Poll shocker: Scott Brown surges ahead in Senate race
Boston Herald ^ | 1/14/10 | Jessica Van Sack

Riding a wave of opposition to Democratic health-care reform, GOP upstart Scott Brown is leading in the U.S. Senate race, raising the odds of a historic upset that would reverberate all the way to the White House, a new poll shows.

Although Brown’s 4-point lead over Democrat Martha Coakley is within the Suffolk University/7News survey’s margin of error, the underdog’s position at the top of the results stunned even pollster David Paleologos.

“It’s a Brown-out,” said Paleologos, director of Suffolk’s Political Research Center. “It’s a massive change in the political landscape.”

The poll shows Brown, a state senator from Wrentham, besting Coakley, the state’s attorney general, by 50 percent to 46 percent, the first major survey to show Brown in the lead.

QUESTION: What is the general consensus among Freepers, I wonder. Will polls like this....

1. Energize the Dems to get out and vote for Coakley or

2. Energize the anti-Washington contingent to rally and vote for Brown or

3. Demoralize the Dems and cause them to stay home thinking Brown is going to win and their “one vote” won’t matter?

C’mon Freepers; give me your opinion.

The RNC needs to keep a battery of attorney on the ground wherever, and whenever, the votes are counted.

Four points is not enough in a state completely controlled by the Democrats. They will cheat their way past a 4 point deficit, and tie the certification up in court long enough to help O Bama.

Say what??? I will laugh so hard if they drop this seat. And concerning the RNC, they abandoned Brown long ago. They are an absolute nightmare.

For Coakley, Brown’s surge may be as ominous as the fact that her campaign’s peril is not fully recognized, with 64 percent of voters still believing she’ll win - a perception that threatens to keep her supporters home.

Translation: "No biggie. If we don't win it outright, we can count on the Democrat machine to steal it for us anyhow."

And looking at what happened with Franken, they are probably right.

I won't be celebrating anything until Brown is sworn in and seated in the Senate.

I think it will cause many Democrats who are indeed unhappy with Obama but would otherwise vote with the crowd to realize that there are many more like minded folks out there. I think it will create more of a surge for Brown.

But on the flip side, I think the Chicago dirty tricks machine will be ready to protest. I just pray that the win is by a large enough margin to make it unquestioned.

They will easily cheat a 4 point deficit.
They will do it all by absentee ballots.
110% turnout.

I'm not sure the RNC is aware of this election, maybe someone should call and let them know. They may be free next Tuesday...........on second thought, I'd guess they have a luch meeting scheduled somewhere.

Fortunately, it's my understanding that Brown has already put an election fraud team in place, with at least one person (attorney) at each precinct. It worked in NJ, it can work in MA too I hope.

I’m not an “on the fence” sort of guy about anything, but I think it will do a little of each of those listed.

While I’d like to celebrate because this is good news, Brown still needs to get past the fraud from the libs and unfortunately, that’s all uphill.

This is a real nail biter. AND, then comes the court fights.

None of the above.

My Dad. life long Union Democratic voter. I may have convinced him to pull the lever for Scott. The kicker was when I told him he could stop Obamacare. Dead silence then "Ya?" So I explained how. He hates Obamacare. What is it if none of the above. My dad said the following that floored me... "This ^$&^% guy is a BS artist and he hasn't done $&!t and he is a one termer". They are waking up to the fact that this guy is not what he said he was and they are pissed. They want him stopped and jobs back. A friend of mine in NH, his wife was an Obamaton. Now she cannot stand him and can't even watch him on TV w/out her blood boiling.

The Miracles Glenn told us would happen are about to unfold....

So too has Brown has surged at Intrade today, likely due to this poll. The weekend Rasmussen poll will be the bellwether.

Four points is not enough in a state completely controlled by the Democrats. They will cheat their way past a 4 point deficit...

Christie was up by 1% in the RCP Average , and he ended up winning by 4.3%. Fraud can only take the Dems so far against an incensed electorate.

Seems 0bama is appeasing the unions with the delay in tax on them until 2017. I wonder how this will come into play with voters? The timing is very suspect./s

Paleologos said bellweather [sic] models show high numbers of independent voters turning out on election day, which benefits Brown, who has 65 percent of that bloc compared to Coakley’s 30 percent. Kennedy earns just 3 percent of the independent vote, and 1 percent are undecided.

Independents are indeed the key here.

Perhaps Massachusetts is not as hopeless as the common wisdom would suggest. After all, it voted for Reagan in 1984, and elected Mitt Romney governor (a RINO, yes, but less so than the Senatorial duo from Maine).

Yep, and if you are an attorney in MA, or just someone familiar with the election process please contact the campaign and see if you can help out. You can't have too many poll watchers!
