Store or Starve: A beginner’s guide to food storage

I want people to store food not only for their sake, but for mine as well. I dont want to decide which of my kids have to go hungry when you and your unprepared kin come knocking on my door. Contrary to progressive-collectivist thinking, every individual who takes care of themselves and their families benefits society by not becoming a burden. So take responsibility now and start today. Dont expect the Feds to come by to hand you your ration of government-rationed cheese. You could be in for a long wait. Wait too long, and you may end up with a green-stained mouth from eating grass, like the poor Irish during the potato famine in the mid 1800s. Or seriously reevaluate your aversion to cannibalism. Compared to those desperate methods, dumpster diving comes off as luxury cuisine.

Just buy a lot of MREs. Considering they have between 2500-3000 per MRE, all you need is one a day (unless your heavily exerting yourself).
They also last for years.

Just buy a lot of MREs. Heavy, expensive, and seriously lacking in fiber. There's a reason they're known as "Meals Refusing to Exit".
They also last for years.
Only stored below 70 degrees.

I have a pretty good amount already set aside but here is my question,
If we lose power I lose a ton of frozen meat. Does anyone have a plan for this contingency or suggestions?

It isn't just China, I recall going into a “deli” in Malaga, Spain and seeing a dog head in a display case. In Naples Italy there was this cart that sold these amazingly good sausage sandwiches. I have no idea what was in them, but they went down fine after a night of ouzo.I can't think of the name of that bowling pin shaped bald guy on the travel (food?) channel, but he eats all kinds of disgusting stuff everywhere.

Fuel will also become an issue....There is a solar generator out that sell for less than 1,000. It suggests that enough power for freezers etc would be produced in one day.
SInce gas pumps don’t work during hurricanes etc...It seems that more people should look into the solar portable unit. Panel is on rollers, all the rest is self contained.

put away an extra ten percent as a tithe Finally! The correct answer to the question.
My last answer was "an extra 20-lb sack of rice doesn't cost much nor take much space", but I like yours better.

Good information there to share, Kartographer. Alaskans tend to do those things as a way of life, but there’s some things I ought to be doing that I haven’t done either.
I was taught, “don’t come crying to me” when I haven’t done what I should. Folks would be wise to take precautions for any unforseen emergency.
