Indiana's Bayh retiring
The American Thinker ^ | Indiana's Bayh retiring | Rick Moran

Posted on 02/16/2010 3:21:47 AM PST by Scanian

He has more than $12 million socked away for his re-election, no primary challenger, and a 20 point lead on his closest GOP adversary.

What does Senator Evan Bayh, retiring after two terms, know that we don't? Chris Cillizza:

"Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh will not seek re-election this year, a decision that hands Republicans a prime pickup opportunity in the middle of the country. 'After all these years, my passion for service to my fellow citizens is undiminished, but my desire to do so by serving in Congress has waned,' Bayh will say, according to prepared remarks obtained by the Fix. He will make the decision formal at a press conference later today.

Bayh was first elected to the Senate in 1998 and was re-elected easily in 2004. National Republicans had recruited former Sen. Dan Coats to challenge Bayh in 2010 although polling suggested Bayh began the race with a 20-point edge. He also had $13 million in the bank at the end of the year..."

It looks like he wants to distance himself from the Democrat party and Obama for the time being to run for President to me.

Here is my prediction: Obama is going to try to seize control of government and bypass Congress. He is setting himself up as a dictator.

Watch the Presidential Decrees come forth mandating all the union/minority wish list: healthcare, cap and trade, card check, greening of America.

If you stand against Obama, you are a racist.

THIS is why I think a number of Dems are dropping out. There is a coup by the hard left.

Just watch!

Dem. talking heads warning Bayh that Tom Bradley tried this some years back and the party walked away. Obama is probably not pleased...rats jumping ship.

Not me, I think this guy is melting faster than Climategate.

There is always that possibility, but it is more likely that he doesn't want to tarnish his future political career with what is going down in the DNC.

Imagine if they have decided to throw Obummer to the wolves and the democrats push the eligibility issue? Or, if it is just getting too hard to keep suppressing or mocking the issues?

How many accomplices will get burned? Many may want to - or are smart enough - distance themselves from this pariah?

Let’s face it folks, the guy is getting old and why not enjoy your golden-parachute millions during your last few years, rather than having to show up every day, doing the daily grind of serving constituents. Not all these decisions are that complicated. He’s “been there, done that”, now it’s time to relax with the wife, mistress, and grandkiddys.

I think he has 12 million reasons to retire.

I don't think retiring politicians can keep the money any longer. I believe they have to give it to other politicians or the party if they don't intend to run themselves.

Anyone been over on the DU? I love seeing them in panic mode. I have never seen them hate their party so much.

Watch out. He’ll be back. He’s trying to portray himself as a middle of the road person, so he can make a run at the presidency. Gotta rebuild his image after voting yes on the healthcare mess.

Sounds about right. Are we going to let one person get away with it? How is that possible? Especially if the military is not on his side.

“doing the daily grind of serving constituents... He’s “been there, done that”,” This comment is a JOKE, right? We tried repeatedly to visit with Sen Bayh or his staff this summer. He had NO townhalls, no visits. Finally even stopped incoming phone messages. Buh-Bayh was sick of representing his constituents years ago. He has just made it official. Richard Behney, IN TEA Party founder, can take this seat with TEA Party help. Check out RichardBehney.com

You understand what’s behind this. Grab the dough and be rid of the pretense of representing those “yucky” common folks.
