Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) will endorse Arizona Sen. John McCain in his GOP primary battle with former congressman J.D. Hayworth, advisers to the governor say.
McCain asked McDonnell for his backing after having campaigned for the Virginian last year. The 2008 presidential nominee, who is being portrayed by some critics as too moderate, undoubtedly hopes McDonnell can help him in conservative circles.

Mac, you don’t owe McCain anything.
Nooooooooooooooooooooo
Don’t do it Governor.
Did McLame endorse the Governor during the primary and/or the general election? If so,it's understandable that he'd return the favor.This,IMO...in and of itself...isn't necessarily a big deal.
I’m not going to say my real response on Free Republic.
McDonnell is Rick Santorum. Santorum endorsed Snarlin’ Arlen, and look where both of them are now? Santorum was defeated by a Dem and Arlen IS a Dem.
McDonnell will pay for this.
Just stay neutral Bob.
I'll tally them up later but it is 3 to 2 now.
The fact McAmnesty hopes to have someone else help him in conservative circles is enough of a reason for Conservatives not to support him.
The Republican good old boy network is backing McCain. Like Rush said McCain is yesterday. McCain can get all the good old boys he wants but it is not going to change my support for JD Hayworth. No more RINO’s.

FUJM! J.D. 2010!
Won’t help McCain. But it sure will hurt McDonnell. Guaranteed on both counts.
So much for McDonnell 2012. Just one more I can scratch off my list.
Yeah, lets make him pay like Santorum for his endorsements, then we can be in the permanent, but pure, minority.
If true, one of the few bright lights in the GOP will have dimmed very quickly.
Apparently, the Republicans in power [including the newly elected] are turning a deaf ear to the tea-party movement and what those tea-partiers have been yelling since last spring.
I hate this “you endorse me, I’ll endorse you” crap.
On the other hand, McDonnell can’t run for re-election as Governor, so it’s hard to see how this would hurt him.
I do hope this doesn’t include McDonnell actually going out on the campaign trail, because we had too much fun making fun of Kaine campaigning when he should have been governoring to have to put up with the democrats complaining about McDonnell.
So if this is nothing more than McDonnell’s name appearing as another “endorsement”, it’s a shame, but I’ll get over it, just as I’ll get over Fred Thompson, Sarah Palin, and Mitt Romney’s endorsements.
It’s not like McCain is likely to lose, or that McCain is killing us in the Senate like a democrat would.
he’s term limited to 1 term in Va unless he challenges Warner
