Are the national media (and most conservatives) just completely presuming Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison's promise to resign from the U.S. Senate, regardless of how the Governor's primaries turn out? Even the standard reference sources, like Wikipedia, FiveThirtyEight, SwingStateProject, the Cook Report, etc., all ignore the race. Meanwhile, a fantastic candidate, Texas State Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams is running hard. (The Texas State Railroad Commission oversees energy issues, among others.)
Check out this clip, from CPAC, stating at 3:23:

Any other information about this race would be greatly appreciated.
I can put a lot of energy and money behind that potential ballot choice. Michael Williams is a great guy and the real deal re Conservative values (I’ve met him several times).
We saw him at the Austin Tea Party on 4/15/09. I hope he runs, he will have my vote.
Michael Williams would make a great US Senator, but that would be one hell of a tough primary.
I like Mike. He’s got my vote.
“Drill Baby, Drill!” (2008 Republican National Convention speech by Michael Williams).
I think Kay Bailout Hutchison will decide to serve out the rest of her term after she loses the Republican primary race for governor. There will be a crowded field in 2012 to replace her in the Senate.
KBH adds running here are just awful, only confirming her complete disconnect with Texas. Her add tactics reminiscent of on old boy's way of doin thangs and if us womens wants to get there we bess get in and wallow in it with’m. Yuck!
After seeing the intelligence, dignity, hard work, sound minded discourse by the Republicans at the Healthcare Summit, I say, “Kay, shame on you!”
You, Nancy, Hilary, Barbra and others of my generation that thought you can't beat them then join them and hammer it out later should exit the public stage. Your luster has tarnished, your Chanel is as faded as you.
Kay, don't even clack those heels down here, pivot, grind, and sprint back to the mound to be pres with a, “All in a days work for a woman.”
From your lips to God’s ears!
t-sip Kay will resign when monkeys fly.
If that stupid beyotch had resigned when she first said she was going to, we could be selecting a candidate for her Senate seat this coming Tuesday.
As it is, she’s just jacking us around, like she did years ago when she first promised to observe “term limits” and only do 12 years in the Senate.
Not that 12 years of her wasn’t plenty long!
