Most people would probably find it flattering to be called the brains behind the president of the United States. But not Karl Rove, the former senior adviser to President George W. Bush who has been called Bushs brain.
The nickname, bestowed on Rove by Bush critics, isnt a compliment to him but rather an insult to his former boss, Rove told TODAYs Matt Lauer during an extensive interview he granted in conjunction with the publication of his book, Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight.
Ive known him for almost four decades. He is a really smart person. To suggest that I was his brain is derogatory about him, Rove said in a preview of the interview that ran Friday on TODAY. The full interview will air Monday and Tuesday, March 8 and 9, on TODAY. On Tuesday, Rove will join Lauer live in the shows Studio 1A in New York City.
The architect
Bush himself called Rove the architect in deference to his role in shaping policy in the Bush White House. But in his book, Rove admits to a major mistake in his handling of the Iraq war: He writes that the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq badly damaged the Bush administration's credibility and led to dwindling public support for the war.
In a review of the book, The Associated Press writes: The former White House political adviser blames himself for not pushing back against claims that President George W. Bush had taken the country to war under false pretenses, calling it one of the worst mistakes he made during the Bush presidency. The president, he adds, did not knowingly mislead the American public about the existence of such weapons.(continued)

I thought that I was paying close attention, but I did not ever hear Pres. Bush assert as incontrovertible fact that Saddam Hussein has a heap of functional and deployable WMD.
However, I do have a file of published statements of many high ranking members of The Congress and cabinet members, both Rep. & Dem. that did so state, or very nearly so, during late 1990s and early 2000s.
And, not to put too fine a point on the matter, but a single 20 liter carboy of certain chemical substances can constitute a WMD. I seem to recall that some such discovery occurred in Iraq.
“blames himself for not pushing back against claims that President George W. Bush had taken the country to war under false pretenses,”
This was his and W’s major shortcoming on many issues.
Sometimes known, particularly in the Ivy League schools, as gentlemanly "C's". Obama, on the other hand who supposedly attended Columbia, and later Harvard ... refuses to release his grades. Liberal MSM has no issue with this small irregularity ... why?
You are right. Who can claim he’s more intelligent? He has nothing to show for his first year.
100% agreed.
Bush & Rove...both good, good men.
No, to busy watching the latest sports, sitcom or other such Pablum for the socialist masses, you are here because you are a cut above.
I wish I kept the link...
When Google first got their google earth up it was just before the Iraq invasion. They hired this brainiac 20 something PHD to run the bird in space. Board one time running it if focuses on a convoy, you guessed it from Iraq to Syria.
He was interviewed by I can't remember who, but it was indepth, he saw it in real time.
But with the Liberal Pukes running Google, my guess is if their is records of his scans they have been scrubbed cleaner than if Rosemary Wood's did it herself...

He owns the banks, and a couple of car companies.
AND, even worse, he's within a month of owning the insurance companies AND us.
Wish I could borrow the keys to that.
In the run-up to the war, Bush and his national security team, including Vice President Dick Cheney, attempted to link Saddam Hussein to the attacks as a way to build support for the invasion.
(RR)There you go again...
I remember the Dems accusing Bush/Cheney of trying to tie 9/11 to Saddam, and I remember Bush/Cheney publicly denying a link, but I do not ever remember Bush/Cheney actually linking 9/11 to Saddam.
“Zactly.
I know they found aphids which contain uranium.
During my son's first deployment, he wrote me that they had found containers of Sarin gas. Never heard it reported in the LSM.
Yep.
There's plenty of evidence he's denser than a box of rocks. Just listen to him for ten minutes without his teleprompter.
Don’t forget the unrelenting media campaign. It is tough for many to get beyond that.
Bush was not dumb. Problem is, he tried to be too clever. He and Rove thought they could outfox the Democrats with compassionate conservatism. Co-opt the liberal agenda with No Child Left Behind and the new Medicare entitlement.
The slick strategery may have temporarily boosted Bush in the polls, but the long term result was a political and policy disaster. No Child is disdained by both left and right for its government intrusion and rigid top-down rules. The Bush Medicare scheme and other big spending are condemned by the Tea Party and conservative Republicans. As Bush lost support because of the declining economy, he also lost support among conservatives. His ratings went down the tubes.
That’s what you get for being too cute by half.
Obama's intelligence is in the eye of the bedazzled lamestream media.
It is just visual effects.
