Most people would probably find it flattering to be called the brains behind the president of the United States. But not Karl Rove, the former senior adviser to President George W. Bush who has been called Bushs brain.
The nickname, bestowed on Rove by Bush critics, isnt a compliment to him but rather an insult to his former boss, Rove told TODAYs Matt Lauer during an extensive interview he granted in conjunction with the publication of his book, Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight.
Ive known him for almost four decades. He is a really smart person. To suggest that I was his brain is derogatory about him, Rove said in a preview of the interview that ran Friday on TODAY. The full interview will air Monday and Tuesday, March 8 and 9, on TODAY. On Tuesday, Rove will join Lauer live in the shows Studio 1A in New York City.
The architect
Bush himself called Rove the architect in deference to his role in shaping policy in the Bush White House. But in his book, Rove admits to a major mistake in his handling of the Iraq war: He writes that the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq badly damaged the Bush administration's credibility and led to dwindling public support for the war.
In a review of the book, The Associated Press writes: The former White House political adviser blames himself for not pushing back against claims that President George W. Bush had taken the country to war under false pretenses, calling it one of the worst mistakes he made during the Bush presidency. The president, he adds, did not knowingly mislead the American public about the existence of such weapons.(continued)

George Bush was so stupid, he was able to orchestrate the most massive terrorist act in history in fewer than 8 months.
This says more about the American public's intelligence, or lack of, then that of the former President's intelligence.
Yes... Rove was an idiot about that... and then there was that pesky amnesty that Rove said would grow the gop... grew it right out of office.
LLS
What about the yellow cake? Has the average sheeple of an American voting public ever even heard of that? Perhaps President George W. Bush was willing to take the hits, bad press and attacks of the wacky left & MSM while they secretly moved it out of Iraq. Or was that also a lie?
A show down with these people Nation wide...
The pilot who hit the bldg, The guy who shot up at the CIA. DONKS.
Liberal talk radio, Hate filled speech, All day long. Just fueling Rohm’s Retards.
Ya' got that right Carl. You should have been out there everyday whackin' the lefty liars down.
MSNBC is still running pieces about Bush’s brain after all these years. No wonder they are tanking.
I was always wonder about that. The Left would say he was stupid and then claim he masterminded the most intricate conspiracies in the history of the Republic.
Rove is right about their lack of response to criticism - the biggest problem was always communication.
Let's not forget that we found over 500 chemical weapons but not the huge stockpiles that he admitted that he had.
The sheeple forget that much of Iraq's inventory of nasty stuff was cataloged by the UN after GW1 and it has never been accounted for.
Saddam's #2 in his airforce, Ge. Sada said that the weapons were taken to Syria and Lebanon.
Also remember that Saddam was training thousands of terrorists to attack the West, including our troops in Afghanistan.
Not to mention master minding Katrina!
There is no evidence whatsoever that hussein obama is more intelligent than George W., OR Palin for that matter...
I wish they would have fought the Dem’s, MSM and wacky left on all of this. If it were not for reading here and a few other places, heck I wouldn’t know some of the stuff. Thanks for the extra information too. Now, Iran is probably repeating the same stuff while Obama & company sits around and twiddles their thumbs.
I remember a letter to the editor in the Financial Times circa 2002/3 in which an obscure British historian objected to the press characterisation of W as stupid. The writer had attended a function in London at which then Gov of Texas Bush was speaking. During the round of handshaking at the end of the conference W recognised the mans name and according to the writer congratulated him on his latest book and spoke inteligently with him about it. After that I never once doubted W’s intellect.
GW had an MBA from Harvard.
He was just not an egomaniac, constantly telling others how smart he is, as our current President is doing.
and, what type of warheads were on those fighters buried in the sands of Iraq? Just asking...
