Fayetteville Republican Lou Huddleston Wednesday called on 8th District rival Tim D’Annunzio to leave the race, saying “he hasn’t shown the disposition and the temperament voters would expect from someone who wants to be their congressman.”

...

“When you walk off of a stage because you’re not happy about something ... you’re walking away from voters, you’re disrespecting voters,” Huddleston said.

D'Annunzio has some good ideas but Lou is right, he's all bluster and doesn't have the temperament to win in this swing district.

Lou Huddleston is an Army veteran; Harold Johnson a Marine Corps veteran and longtime Charlotte sportscaster. Conservatives should choose one of them to carry the banner in 2010 against Larry Kissell.

D’ has the big signs up around the area.

I’m leaning Huddleston right now but I’ll support whoever wins the primary.

Ping.

NC-8 was gerrymandered to knock former US Rep Robin Hayes out of office, which was finally accomplished in the Democrat wave of 2008. If Republicans control redistricting in 2012 the district will be reshaped to make a Republican win likely.

I saw D’Annunzio, Huddleston and Hal Jordan at a forum a few months ago (this was before Johnson jumped in). My first impression of D’Annunzio was that he was a nut who couldn’t possibly run and win a serious campaign, especially for this seat. That impression has been reinforced constantly since then - way too much bad stuff about the guy to waste my time with mentioning here. If he buys the nomination, then you might as well forget about this seat.

I don’t live in the district but I’m leaning toward Johnson at this point.
