Limbaugh prompts healthcare calls, ties up House phone lines (Red Alert from Rush)

House phone lines were nearing capacity on Tuesday as

The office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) sent out a system-wide advisory to member offices at

“Our phone system is nearing capacity,” said Jeff Ventura, spokesman for the CAO. “It got critical enough whereby we notified all systems’ administrators throughout the House that the phone systems are overloading.”

At the top of Limbaugh’s website are toll-free and local phone numbers for the Capitol operator, plus the message: “Call the Capitol Switchboard,” followed by “Code Red: Click Here for List of Targeted Congressmen.”

While Ventura said the CAO didn’t have specific numbers of how many calls the House was receiving, he did say that it would have to be “an extraordinary volume” in order for it to clog the system.

Ventura said the surge in calls, which results in occasional busy signals for callers, is likely to persist throughout the week.

The House is preparing for a possible weekend vote on healthcare reform.

Ventura added there’s not much that can be done to alleviate the busy signals and advised callers to keep calling until they get through.

“Unlike computers, which can be scaled to accommodate something like this in real time, phone lines are hard-wired, so you have your capacity and once the capacity is full, you’re going to get the good old-fashioned busy signal,” he said. “And that’s what’s happening.”

A similar deluge of communications from voters came in 2008 when the House had to limit the number of e-mails being sent to lawmakers on the financial bailout bill in order to prevent House websites from crashing.

As a result, some constituents got a “try back at a later time” response if they used the House website to e-mail their lawmakers about the bill that was defeated in the House.

Wow, this is pretty big. Rush never asks his listeners to make calls and he’s typically pretty vocal that it’s not his thing.

He explained it as due to “Hardball” by some reporters.

Rush usually has some good reasons for the things he says and does. In this case since a boat load of Doctors will retire if ObamaCare passes. We will have socialist like medicine queues, if not just a bankrupt nation too.

Full transcript

House phone lines were nearing capacity on Tuesday as conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh encouraged fans to call in their objections on healthcare legislation.

The House e-mail system was also deluged in what the House’s technology office called “a very significant spike” in traffic.

The office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) sent out a system-wide advisory to member offices at 2 p.m. Tuesday, warning them of the dramatic increase in traffic.

And three years ago, then-CNN anchor Lou Dobbs and conservative talk radio hosts helped to defeat an immigration bill after they urged listeners to call Capitol operators.

The effort overloaded the switchboard, and senators ultimately voted against advancing the immigration measure despite strong bipartisan support and the backing of President George W. Bush.

From www.rushlimbaugh.com:
BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Folks, if you'll indulge me for just a second here, this is an example of the day.  I just mentioned the Politico blog post saying that for only the second time in history that I urge people to call Washington and actually gave out phone numbers. The blogger, Michael Calderone, has written me a note and said, "Look, I know you're busy, and you're still on the air now, but if you have a minute when you're done, I have a couple questions."  I don't. Michael, I really don't have the a minute today when I'm done. So I'm going to answer your questions here on the air.  Now, it's gonna take away from your exclusivity, but one of the questions I already answered on the air today.  "When was the other time? When was the other time that you urged this?" It was when Steve Roberts of US News & World Report was doing a profile on me way back in the nineties.

He was of the belief, like so many people believed back then, that all I was doing was giving out phone numbers of members of Congress and switchboards in Washington and he asked me why I did that. I said, "I don't do it. I'm the one that doesn't do it. I don't use my show for activism."  I said, "If I did it, I would shut the place down.  So I'll demonstrate it for you." So I gave out a number. I forget what it was about. I forget what the whole thing was. In fact I think I told people, "Look, I'm trying to demonstrate something to a reporter here what will happen if I give out the Washington switchboard number." So I gave it out and of course the switchboard was tied up for a half hour or so, people couldn't get through. The same thing happened today at the two toll-free numbers I gave.  Those numbers have now shut down.

You don't even get a recording at them now. They're invalidated. Nothing happened. So we had to give out the toll-free and the toll call numbers.  (By the way, the toll-free number to the switchboard is 877-762-8762.) "Why did I feel it necessary to do it now?"  Because this is ballgame.  This is ballgame.  And Michael, the only reason we're at this point is because the American people have stood up.  The Republicans don't have the votes to stop this, the Martians don't have the votes to stop this (and Republicans may as well be Martians on this, given all their influence).  All we can do is continue to have the American people let it be known they want no part of this, the substance of the bill, or the process.  They don't like it, and that's why I am urging them to call, 'cause this is a transformation of our country into something that no one has ever seen it be like.  We don't want that transformation to take place.  We like America as it was founded. We don't want to turn it into a Third World country.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Steny Hoyer has just come out and said the Democrats don't have the votes, which takes me to the final question from Michael Calderone at Politico -- and, Michael, I really do not have a moment after the program.  I am swamped until I finally get to lay my head down on the pillow tonight.  Last question from Michael Calderone: "Do you think there's a chance of still changing the minds of members as to how they may vote?" Now, if there's no chance, why is Pelosi trying to do that?  Yeah, I think there's a chance! I think there's a chance of making sure a bunch of "no" votes don't turn to "yes."  I think there's a chance to make some of these undecideds go to "no," and I think there's a chance to make some of these "yes" votes last November go to "no" because the political climate is totally different.  But if the time was past where there was a chance of still changing the minds of members, then what's Pelosi doing trying to change their minds, and what's Jim Clyburn doing trying to change their minds?

Why am I getting this question?  Michael, why didn't you call Pelosi's office and ask: "Do you really think there's a chance of changing your members' minds?" Apparently they're up for grabs because they don't have the votes.  I, apparently, am not the one who has to change anybody's mind.  Pelosi is.  Hoyer just came out and said they don't have the votes.  Pure and simple.  One of the underlying aspects of the Democrats' Hail Mary pass attempt to push this health care plan through is that if it passes, it's the first time in American history the federal government will force every American to buy something whether you can afford it or not.  Now, the Heritage Foundation has been making the point for months: there's no constitutional or judicial precedent for such a power grab. None whatsoever.

If this bill passes, the Constitution's carefully crafted limits on congressional power will have been reduced substantially.  It's an all-out assault here.  Now, this is not what the Founding Fathers intended -- and this is why, Michael, I'm trying to get as many people (for the second time in history) to call people in Washington and stop this.  We're dealing with a transformation of this country unlike anything we've seen before, and certainly not as it was founded.  We did not elect people to overthrow the government. We did not elect people to reshape it or to remake it.  They are stewards.  The Constitution is the Constitution, and it doesn't matter to these people, and it doesn't matter to the people in the media.  They don't care.  They don't even care what the substance of this is.  They're just surprised anybody would oppose it.

"Why, he's a historical president. He's our first black president! Why would you oppose this?"

They look at it from the prism of just a horse race.

"Can Obama get this done? Can Obama win?" Secondly, and almost just as important: "Can Obama beat the Republicans?"

Well, hint, hint! The Republicans can't stop Obama.  The American people can, but the Republicans can't.  They don't have the votes to stop Obama.  This is not about the Republicans! The Founding Fathers intended none of this.  Heritage Foundation is on a mission to make sure you know exactly how the Democrats are damaging the bedrock of our system of government.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  And welcome back, Rush Limbaugh and the EIB Network.  The House of Representatives, I guess Congress in general, has put out a System Advisory saying: "House telephone circuits have neared capacity."  This explains why nobody can get through their busy signals.  The actual message: "Due to the high volume of external calls, House telephone circuits are near capacity, resulting in outside callers getting busy signals.  If you have any questions, please call the technology call center," and there's an 800 number here. (877-762-8762) (laughs) So... (interruption) No, no, no, I don't want to give that number out.  But people are writing me and saying, "We can't get through."  I know we can't get through. That's the whole point! Just keep trying. Nobody else can get through either.  Now, I don't doubt that a lot of members have their phones turned off and they have their mailboxes full.

Yeah, It's Ballgame and the dems don't know what game they are playing. It's called "The Third Rail".

As long as the MSM, Liberals and Progressives give it to us in diluted forms they can sneak it past us. So pray they would be unable to contain themselves and accelerate uncontrollably leftward until American repents and throws them out!

House members, you have been forewarned.

I consider a "yea" commitment "eternal death". A sin to God by allowing this sinful bill (which contains just that) to be passed.

I believe, though, that if they go against the "regime" and flip their vote, they will have a chance to redeem themselves before God as well as the chance to save their seat in the House come November.

This is why I believe the issue is over...

The liberal-statists cannot let this go anymore...This is their swan song...

It’s the bottom of the ninth, bases are loaded, its a full count and Pelosi is at bat...

There are two outcomes here...One she gets a base hit, and they win, or we strike them out at the plate...

What we need to have already done, and had in place are measures/mechanisms at the state level to declare that any Federal law or plan that is un-Constitutional be un-enforcable...Plain and simple...

Theere are states out there that have made surface declarations of their tenth Amendment rights in mostly non-binding resolutions, yet I know of a state legislator working on a bill to be introduced in the next session that will give teeth to Texas’s resolution passed in the last session...This is actually going to be very exciting, and something we all need to press our state legislations to do...

It’s time to turn the tables folks...Time to start fighting back...If your state government doesn’t have the will to get this done, fire every frappin’ one of them, regardless if you like them or not, regardless if they have been effective and a friend in the past...This is the only way...

The focus needs to be reversed, The Federal government needs a lesson in humility and common sense, if they cannot understand the basic principles then fire them...The direction they are looking at is not supposed to be for them to be at the top of the heap looking down on us, they need to be physically reset, refocused...

The people clearly have finally waked up to the fact that this is NOT correct...And I believe it is too late to stop this from happening...

But all is not lost...It can be neutered...

Someday we’ll all look back on this and remember it was an interesting time in our history...

Rush has unleashed HELL...
From www.krescendo.com/gladiatorlatin/index.html:
1.4.4 QUINTUS: People should know when they're conquered.

1.4.5 MAXIMUS: Would you, Quintus? Would i?

[Maximus bends down and picks up a handful of dirt, bringing it to his nose to smell. He looks to the side and sees his WOLF OF ROME eagerly watching him, moaning as Maximus studies him. They steady their gaze connecting with each other as they prepare for battle. Maximus rises, and turns to Quintus and Valerius. Shaking Quintus' hand Maximus says,

1.4.6 "Strength and honour." Quintus then turns to Valerius, shaking his hand, they exchange, "Strength and honour."

1.4.7 MAXIMUS [As he mounts his horse he looks to Quintus]: At my signal, unleash hell.

[Maximus rides off. His wolf breaks free from the handler, charging after Maximus, running along side the horse as Maximus passes the soldiers who stand as he approaches. In the distance, Marcus continues his watch over the battlefield.]

fire every frappin’ one of them

The problem is you can't just fire them. You can not vote for them but you have to have someone who is running that will do a better job. If you don't (and there don't seem to be many that fit the qualifications as of now), you end up getting a RINO or leftest dim elected. I don't even want to talk 3rd party. We HAVE to get good common sense conservatives to replace who we fire.
