DALE CITY, Va. -- Both drivers involved a road road duel on Interstate 95 during Tuesday afternoon's rush hour are being charged with trying to kill each other.

Virginia State Police Wednesday evening took dump truck driver James A. Bringham, 44, of Woodbridge, into custody. Police obtained a warrant against Bringham for attempted second-degree murder. Police previously charged Bringham with reckless driving.

Already charged with attempted second-degree murder is Gabriel Poventud, 25, of Woodbridge. He's also charged with charged with child endangerment, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting a missile into an occupied vehicle and reckless use of a firearm.

Police say Poventud -- who allegedly fired 13 rounds -- had his 2-year-old daughter in his Jaguar during the road rage incident on southbound I-95.

This happened after Bringham, the driver of a 2007 Ford F550 dump truck, tried to merge into the southbound lanes of I-95 from Route 123, shortly after 4 p.m.

Too bad they didn’t cleanse the gene pool and off each other, not the innocent 2 year old though.

It’s hard to believe that nothing or no one was hit with that many rounds being fired. The article didn’t mention what sort of guns were being used—

I certainly hope these guys are kept off the roads for a very long time.

shooting a missile into an occupied vehicle

Somehow this seems to be an over-exaggeration?

“...says Virginia State Police Lt. Danny Glick.”
Danny Glick was turned into a vampire in the book “Salem’s Lot” by Stephen King.
So that’s where he ended up. Probably on permanent graveyard shift.

I’d go for a lifetime license suspension for both of them. I am so disgusted by every day driving habits of most people.

I travel that stretch of road every day. The behaviour of some drivers during the rush hour is beyond “agresssive.” It can only be described as murderous. During the years I commuted by motorcycle, I’d have at least 3 life threatening near misses per month, by drivers fully willing to kill me simply to place themselves one car length ahead of anybody else.

Obviously President Bush Fault. : > )

Yeah, I’m in the heartbeat of NY close to NYC. They really still believe this here.

Sounds like the Jaguar driver tried to even the odds of the “Law of Gross Tonnage” by using a gun.

Here in southeastern Virginia I’m amazed at how many people have no respect for those big trucks. I myself am a firm believer in the aforementioned “Law.”

Nice to see good journalism is alive and well with this excerpt from the story:
“The dump truck pulled away into traffic, but was struck far more than four times by the 13 rounds. No one was not hurt by the gunfire.”

not enough story, but i’m pretty sure if some jerk in an oversized truck bullied his way onto the highway and struck my car twice while my little girl was in it, i’d prolly shoot too.

That’s the standard legal term. If you throw a rock, it is referred to as a missile, for example.

Me to unless I happen to be open carrying my missle.

Law of gross tonnage is NOT a license to bully other vehicles.
i’ve met very few truckers that don’t believe “i’m bigger, i will crush you, get out of my way”

I've been seeing a lot of this in the last couple of weeks. It's spring break in Panama City and there are a lot of young males trying to impress their friends and doing really stupid things. Yesterday I was merging onto a six lane highway and a Corvette passed several cars on the right shoulder doing over 100 MPH.

About four miles later a carload of spring breakers were behind me in the left turn lane. They pulled around me and cut me off to move up one car length.

Last week a guy driving a plumbers van drifted into the left lane and almost hit the guy next to him. The two of them drove at 20 MPH down through 45 MPH zone screaming back and forth at each other for a couple of blocks.

No one was not hurt by the gunfire.

According to the twisted syntax of the story, everyone was hurt by gunfire!

Gabriel Poventurd needs to concentrate more on his front sight.

OTOH, it’s probably good he didn’t.

Dueling with a dump truck with his 2 year old in the car is incredibly dumb.

It sounds like only one firearm was used. 13 rounds from a high-cap Glock, etc., could certainly put a crimp in your day.

Ten-to-one says that Wyatt Perp wasn’t allowed by law to possess any firearms to began with.
