Scott Brown snubs Sarah Palin, bags Tea Party rally
Boston Herald ^ | April 12, 2010 | Edward Mason

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, whose stunning victory in January was fueled in part by Tea Party anger, has snubbed the fiery grassroots group and declined its invitation to join Sarah Palin Wednesday at a massive rally on Boston Common, the Herald has learned.

Brown’s decision to skip the first big rally in Boston by the group whose members are credited with helping him win election has some experts saying he’s tossed the Tea Party overboard, as he prepares for re-election in 2012.

More creative writing from the Boston Herald!!

Who are the *experts* who have decided the implications, motive and fall-out from his decision to not attend?

If only these MSM journalists had given more positive credit to the TEA movement when Scott Brown was elected - this current propoganda would have more credibility.

Sarah Palin (right now) has extremely high unfavorables in New England, especially among women, and especially especially among independent women.

This group constitutes 50+% of the electorate everywhere in the six New England states, except in Hartford, Boston, etc where Democrats still predominate.

Scott Brown discovered a way to win by mobilizing this bloc. Making nice with their public enemy #1 makes no sense for him, especially since he's not a national candidate AND, by separating from the dreaded "teabaggers" he boosts his own standing among the independents he really needs.

You dance with the guy that brung you. Scott Brown was elected by New England independents, he's staked out a position as far to the right from them as he can and still keep their trust, and Our Lady of Wasilla would be a bridge too far for him.

Sorry, missed the Wednesday, but they must have a hint that it's going to be huge if they're describing it as massive.

We shall see.

I also understand, but I loathe political triangulation. BE WHO YOU ARE. I happen to KNOW that SB is a stand-up, hardcore conservative, but he is starting to listen to his WDC "handlers" that only know status quo ante.

Leave the dance with who brung ya.

Gee I hadn't heard that. Could you provide a link to where you got that information from?

Sarah Palin (right now) has extremely high unfavorables in New England, especially among women, and especially especially among independent women.

The reason is cultural.  The women on the east coast see strong western women like Palin and Bachmann, women who hunt, fish, and vote republican, as barbarians or hillbillies.  It's a whole different value system and explains why men (non-eastern men anyway) are much more comfortable with these gals who we admire for sharing OUR values.

With Brown’s wife in the Boston media market it’s clear that he’s putting their careers before his oath of office.

He did join the girls of ME and KBH of Texas in ending a filibuster on a bill. I believe they were the only four voting to end the filibuster and bring the bill to the floor.....which then passed.

We knew he was Romney-lite and could never be a go-to Conservative vote. He’s not in much of a position to be one. However, he has served a purpose and continues to do so. I just wish he weren’t so cozy with McCain.

In New England, being an “independent woman” means you graduated from one of the Seven Sisters and still go to reunions, took more than one course in “Women’s Studies”, smoke cigars, teach or work for a nonprofit, live with cats or if you got married (to a man) you kept your last name and plan to hyphenate the name of the in vitro baby you will bear as you approach 40 - or 50
