Republican Congressional candidate Richard Hanna has raised more than $350,000 in the last eight weeks, his campaign said Saturday.
Hanna, who is challenging incumbent Democrat Michael Arcuri in the 24th district, said in a press release that he was humbled and grateful for the enormous support.
His campaign said 91 percent of the individual donations came from within the district, which includes the city of Geneva and parts of Ontario and Seneca counties.
Complete first-quarter financials must be filed with the Federal Election Commission by Thursday, and Hannas campaign said specific figures would be available then.
Arcuri spokesman Mark Cornell said in an e-mail that Arcuris fundraising numbers would not be released until Thursday. Arcuris campaign reported receipts totaling $704,336 through Dec. 31, with $415,293 on hand. ADVERTISEMENT
Hanna, who didnt officially enter the race until Jan. 20, reported receipts totaling $14,000 through Dec. 31, with $2,092 on hand.
Hanna also ran against Arcuri in 2008, and the rematch has garnered attention from the national press and party organizations.
National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Tory Mazzola touted Hannas first-quarter results.
Considering Richard Hanna entered this race nearly a month after the first fundraising quarter began, this is truly remarkable and further demonstrates why he is one of the most impressive candidates across the country, Mazzola said in a press release.
