Florida state Sen. Ted Deutch (D) has won the special election to replace former Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.).
Deutch had about 61 percent of the vote with more than half of precincts reporting, while Republican contractor Ed Lynch was taking about 36 percent of the vote. The race has been called by AP.
Deutch was the heavy favorite heading into Tuesday night in a strongly Democratic district. Republicans didn't do much to contest the race.
Wexler resigned in late 2009 to head up a Middle East think tank.

The Democrats dumped out of a first-story window and landed on their feet.
Guess it's true what they say ... they don't call them the stupid party for nothing!
Any district that votes for Wexler had zero shot of going GOP. He’s among the worst of the worst.
With some help from our side...
Our candidate raised $81,000, vs. 1.5 MILLION for Deutch, and also had a foreclosure filed on his house while campaigning...
Talk about worst possible candidate.
Looks like I wasted my vote.
Yep, it’s the people voting for this scum who are the problem.
Oy.
This district is a lefty stronghold. He never had a chance there anyway. Better to spend conservative resources elsewhere.
Isn't Wexler the clown that really lives in Maryland who was pretending to be a Florida resident? Think tank reason my a$$...
thats sad
hey its all a good ol’boys network...just a bunch of crooks helping each other...
LOL! The Dems could have run Bin Laden in this district and as long as he had a D next to his name - they would love him.

Did you know that Ed Lynch is Hispanic thus got minority contractor preferences at the VA. He did some kind of work on VA buildings. Might have been communications upgrades. He stiffed the local talk show host on $2,000 of advertising and other people too.
There are over 50 D seats that have a shot of going R in Nov. This district is about as likely to go R as Charlie Rangel’s. No sense wasting one thin dime on it.
Wexler’s district is mostly NYC and north Joisey transplants. They take their politics with them. That’s one reason why FL is not reliably R anymore.
Pretty much.
Kinda like running for Pelosi’s seat in San Francisco. You are not likely to get anywhere. The Democrats will get slaughtered in November, yes, but that doesn't mean they will lose every seat. LOL!
They are still going to hold liberal strongholds like San Francisco and places like that.
My fear is that if they keep voting in the Dems & their entitlement mentality which requires high taxes to sustain....Florida will be transformed into another Dem disaster!
