Would Romney Oppose Repealing the Individual Mandate? (Yes. Read here)
American Spectator ^ | 4/19/10

Posted on 04/19/2010 8:43:55 AM PDT by Behind Liberal Lines

I asked Gov. Romney if I could ask him a question. After he told me that this was OK, I posed the following question to him:

“You have stated your intention to spearhead the effort to repeal the ‘worst aspects’ of Obamacare, does this include the repeal of the individual mandate and pre-existing exclusion?”

The Governor’s answer: “No.”

Gov. Romney went on to explain that he does not wish to repeal these aspects because of the deleterious effect it would have on those with pre-existing conditions in obtaining health insurance.

Romney admits that he still supports the individual mandate. How this doesn't immediately disqualify him from the GOP nomination is beyond me.

Mitt Romney is a flip-flopping socialist bum!

Romney’s a non-starter. Why are we even talking about him?

Indeed, it's out of the Obama fire and back into the slow-burn RINO Statist frying pan with Romney.

Judge the man by his ACTIONS and not WORDS. If you want to know what to expect, then just look at the history. It should tell you what to expect. Sorry but I’m not buying it, and I do not trust Romney. Another Republican Goon.

Mitt is a BIG government republican and probably a progressive like George Bush.. Although nobody I know of has ever asked Mitt if hes a progressive.. He would probably lie anyway.. Same with John McQueeq...

Come to think of it that should be the 1st question anyone would ask a republican candidate.. Are YOU a progressive?.. Then you can judge the quality of their lie.. If they are not a progressive they would probably get really MAD AT YOU.. -OR- use the question to lambaste all progressives.. some of whom are republicans..

‘Romney admits that he still supports the individual mandate. How this doesn’t immediately disqualify him from the GOP nomination is beyond me”

He has to because MittCare had a mandate.

He is so Dead On Arrival...ObaamaCare immediately eliminated him as a nominee that actually has a chance to beat Obama...and screw the polls,,,the MSM will hammer him daily and incessantly about MittCare.

He’s done. The establishment will either get this or Obama gets his 8 Year Term....Surviving Obama 4 years,,,tough but possible...8 years?

In this case, his words are what condemns him. He admitted that he wouldn’t repeal Obamacare’s individual mandate, possibly the most unconstitutional part of the law.

BTW, there is almost nobody on our side that would say “yes” to a question about repealing the pre-existing conditions changes. As stupid as they are, there is no political support to go back on that.

Remember that we don’t have a restriction on treatment for pre-existing conditions now — if you don’t have insurance, you get treated anyway, and either the taxpayers or people with insurance pick up your costs.

Until we are willing to let people die on the street in front of the emergency room, we won’t solve this problem.

It’s up to non-RINOs to make sure it does disqualify him.

As long as he doesn’t withdraw voluntarily, he can be stopped only by non-RINOs.

He has to because MittCare had a mandate.

...OR he could have manned up, admitted that he made a colossal mistake with Mittcare and explained why he's learned from his...nah...that's just crazy talk.

“...let people die on the street in front of the emergency room...”

I watch NBC, and I thought that was the Republican platform.

The biggest issue that the Republicans have against Obama, e still has a few months to go before the 2010 elections, and two years before he can be voted out as a presidential mistake. Because of Romneycare in Massachusetts, he is an incompetent leader against Obama in either 2010 or 2012.

This is so clear to any observer of the health care debate that I cannot understand why any Republicans who want to prevail in the next two elections, are taking Romney seriously as a candidate.
