Beware the Beckies (Uber Power-Hurl Warning!!!)

Vancouver, Washington.

Beware the Beckies

Dear Editor;

I’m not quite old enough to be a hippie, but I have two older brothers who were; both went to Woodstock. It looks like we have a new anti-establishment movement, the Tea Party “Beckies.” Once they’ve smoked some Glenn Beck, had a dose of Rush Limbaugh, and gotten Sarah Palin-ized, they’re ready to tune-in (to Fox), turn-off (their brain), and reload.

We’ve gone from Woodstock to Weirdstock, communes to militias, free love to open carry, long hairs to cross hairs, peace signs to the bird, from gurus to guns. We don’t sit-in; we stand up and shout in your face, interrupting public discourse.

Is this what America has devolved to?

I believe in free speech, but there are some irresponsible “patriotic” conservative entertainers and politicians fabricating news and inciting a few Beckies into domestic violence against our country. It’s tantamount to shouting fire in a crowded theater. It borders on treason.

Perhaps those in the Tea Party movement who choose to ignore the will of the majority of the American people, who desire limited government, and favor unregulated militias, should consider living in Somalia. They’d feel right at home there.

I don’t know about you, but I’ll take Flower Power over Fire Power anytime.

Rich Stever

It is incomprehensible, their blind hypocrisy... their absolute inability to see the absurdity of what they say.

Perhaps those in the Obama movement who choose to ignore the will of the majority of the American people, who desire BIG government, and favor gun bans, should consider living in Europe. They’d feel right at home there.

LOL these clowns get further out to lunch every day.

By tomorrow they’ll be warning the Beck watchers are measuring lampshades to figure out how much left wing skin it will take to cover them.

This notion that we turn off our brains always strikes me as a strange attack, since they rarely debate conservatives. The only place you see any “diversity” of ideas is on FOX. Does Rachel Madcow or Keith Overbite take callers or have dissenting guests? The Sunday morning network political shows have a best maybe one token squish moderate Noonan type. No, the Left is just correct, and they know it. Debate is not necessary. Yeah, we're the ones that don't engage in thinking. Rich needs another bong hit.

Of course this idiot has a selective memory being that he relates the sixties counter culture movement to peace, love and flower power and completely ignores all of the terroristic violent movements that it produced from the Black Panthers to the Weather Underground to spitting at our soldiers and inctinig violence against them.

The Tea Party patriots have brought out the most extreme hypocrisy that I have ever seen in my life.

The left-wing has always been home to the most vile and violent extremists throughout all of the history of our country from the KKK democrats who killed republicans as well as blacks, to the traitors of the anti-war movement who were even moving on to target Congress for assassinations, to the eco-terrorists who target everyday working people, to union thugs who target their political opponents with violence, the list could go on and on of the violent acts and rhetoric of the left-wing activists in our country’s history.

This guy is an extreme hypocrite.

Free Republic, The Internet

Beware the Obamunists

Dear Editor;

I’m not quite moronic enough to be a liberal, and I scrupulously avoid anyone who went to Woodstock. It looks like we have a new socialist movement, the “Obamunists.” Once they’ve smoked some Alinsky, had a dose of Rev. Wright, and gotten lobotomized, they’re ready to tune-in (to MSNBC), turn-off (their brain), and have a large glass of Kool-Aid.

We’ve gone from Reagan to Chavez, strength to weakness, freedom to government control, economic success to depression, free enterprise to the nationalism, from leadership to laughingstock. We don’t lead; we bash our own country.

Is this what America has devolved to?

I believe in free speech, but there are some irresponsible “mainstream” commentators and politicians fabricating news and inciting SEIU into domestic violence against our country. It’s tantamount to shouting fire in a crowded theater. It borders on treason.

Perhaps those in the Obamunist movement who choose to ignore the will of the majority of the American people who desire limited government and favor unregulated militias, should consider living in Europe. They’d feel right at home there paying exorbitant taxes to support an unsustainable social system and leave America to those who can make it here without depending on the government for every thing.

I don’t know about you, but I’ll take Tea Parties over Obamunism anytime.

Obviously to this clown’s twisted “logic”, if you favor limited government, you must favor anarchy. People like him should be forced to take courses on the meaning of the constitution.

Instead they desperately try to warn people away from tuning in and becoming “infected” with thought that they deem to be seditious.

Pretty cowardly

And they have the gall to accuse us of having no nuance, of only seeing in black and white. They are masters of twisting our arguments to the most extreme case so they can slap down that strawman.

BTW, do you think this dickless wonder leaves a nightlight on because he's scared of the "Beckies" under his bed?

VEA member proposes magnet middle school

VEA member proposes plan for school of innovation to the district.

In this, the new decade of the 21st century, we need schools of innovation where students are actively engaged in relevant learning and in building strong community partnerships.

VEA member, Richard Stever, has submitted a proposal to the Vancouver School District for a magnet middle school called The Institute for Technology & Environmental Literacy (ITEL).

The ITEL curriculum would rigorously integrate technology with multiple core subjects in an exciting hands-on/minds-on approach.  Lessons related to Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Environmental Literacy (REEEEL!) would empower students and benefit the community.  Carefully implemented, Environmental Literacy would become the hub of an integrated curricular wheel that would nurture not only the traditional 3-Rs, but would enhance critical thinking, authentic engagement, problem solving, practical application of theory, and stewardship of the earth.

ITEL has the potential to hook students into math and science, improve the district’s science and math scores, reduce dropout rates, and prepare students for the inevitable green economy.  Staff, students, parents, and the community would work together toward a more sustainable society.
