Senator McCain: 'Arizona Is Under Siege' (McCain blames himself, Ronald Reagan)
Fox News ^ | 2010-05-13

Posted on 05/13/2010 11:05:10 AM PDT by rabscuttle385

(snip)

MCCAIN: Look, Arizona is under siege in many respects. We have broken borders. We have people flooding across. We have drug cartels inflicting incredible damage. We have — Phoenix, Arizona is the kidnapping capital of the world, second only to Mexico City.

And the legislature and the governor acted out of frustration because the federal government will not fulfill its responsibilities. I have said for years we have to secure the borders. We have to get the National Guard down there. We have to build a fence which I've said for years. We have to use surveillance and we have to have additional troops down there to start with the National Guard and then 3,000 additional Border Patrol.

(snip)

MCCAIN: And every nation has the obligation to secure its borders. If you don't secure the borders then we're like a hamster in a wheel and people will be keep coming illegally. And finally, I remind you back in the 1980s under Ronald Reagan we gave amnesty to two million people on the proviso we would secure the border.

HANNITY: Hasn't happened.

MCCAIN: We gave the amnesty.

HANNITY: Alright.

MCCAIN: We didn't secure the border.

How is "Phoenix, Arizona, the kidnapping capital of the world" if it is "second only to Mexico City"?

McCain talks out of both sides of his mouth so often even he doesn't know what he's saying.

Yes, John, it is your fault. Now, what are you going to do about it?

I would prefer that he simply step down, and let better people do the job he never did.

Reagan’s day was supposed to only be 1.5 to 2 million PLUS greatly enhance border security and a crack down on all new illegals. McCain, the Rinos, and the dems forgot about those last two components.

>> I sure hope the people of Arizona are paying enough attention to not fall for this sh*t.

He’s only spewing this sh*t because he fears the people of Arizona ARE paying attention.

In the hopefully unlikely event he wins the primary, he will IMMEDIATELY tack back to the left. Count on it.

Hell, even Texas’ own Mister Super GoodHair Conservative Rick Perry did just that. Tacked to the right to defeat KBH, and now he’s back on the center-left course (i.e. illegal-friendly “big business welfare” Trans-Texas Corridor Republican)

Too bad that McCain would instantly reverse this stance if re-elected and start talking reaching across the border, uh, aisle.

We both know they didn’t forget.

They saw them as new voters. And they wanted to be the hero to these new voters no matter the cost to the rest of us.

Ping.

NOTE Sen John McCain of Arizona sponsored the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act of 2005. (Sec. 1004. BINATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH INFRASTRUCTURE AND HEALTH INSURANCE).

NOT to improve health care in the United States, but to improve health care in MEXICO.

W/ a provision giving US insurance companies the right to help devise a plan for extending US health care to Mexico.

McCain wanted to give amnesty to illegals here again, and now admits the first amnesty was a mistake and is the cause of the crisis in Arizona.

McCain did not want a fence- he flippantly said if people demanded a fence in order to gain their support for amnesty he would build a “damn” fence.

McCain claimed Americans would not do the work illegals do- wouldn’t pick lettuce at $50 an hour. An absolute insult to American workers and denial of the issues of illegal labor on his part.

McCain is either clueless because he didn’t know what was going on at the border and the issues with illegals- or he is incompetent since he has been in the Senate for many years and has not done anything to remedy the issues.

Clueless or incompetent- does Arizona really need him either way?

McCain should explain the Arizona-Mexico Commission, and the Border Infrastructure Project, implemented in collaboration with financing from federal, state and local government agencies........OUR tax dollars.

==========================================

A STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE

FROM THE ARIZONA-MEXICO COMMISSION WEB SITE http://www.azmc.org/

Welcome to the Arizona-Mexico Commission (AMC) online news and information resource. The Arizona-Mexico Commission is Arizona's premiere cross-border organization.

We are a mission-driven non-profit organization chaired by Arizona's (then) Governor, Janet Napolitano. Our mission is to improve the economic well being and quality of life for residents of Arizona by promoting a strong, cooperative relationship with Mexico and Latin America through advocacy, trade, networking and information.

Looking for funding?

Look no further and check out AMC-ASU’s new funding database: Unlocking the gates to grant sponsorship in Arizona!

Visitwww.azgates.org to find funding and grant application resources online. The single information source on Arizona's Border Infrastructure Projects!

Visit www.azbip.org to find streamlined information on infrastructure projects in Arizona's border communities.

LINK State of Arizona Border Infrastructure Project http://www.bip.arizona.edu/

"The Border Infrastructure Project database is the single source of information on Arizona’s border infrastructure projects. It tracks each project’s progress along its approval, programming and funding paths and provides the information in a concise and timely way. I hope this is a valuable tool for you and that you will use it often." - (then) Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano

The University of Arizona Office of Economic and Policy Analysis developed the Border Infrastructure Project concept in partnership with the Arizona-Mexico Commission. It is being implemented in collaboration with federal, state and local government agencies. Border communities and stakeholders will be engaged in this project through outreach efforts.

“Where was he for the last 10 years on the subject?”

“We have to build a fence which I’ve said for years.”

If you were leader, Juan, you would’ve got’er done.

Why would anyone believe anything McLame is saying about the border and the lack of a border fence? He has done NOTHING as a Senator for all these years since he last supported the Bush Amensty plan, on which we burned down the Capitol switchboard (about 2006-7)

They refused to secure the border and enforce immigration laws after that was made part of the amnesty because they decided that would be “too harsh” I remember when that was being said and I cringed at the time because I knew it meant open borders and more illegals.

Yet the politicians cannot understand why we don’t trust them to do what they say concerning a new amnesty.
