Well, whatever chance we had of sinking this nomination became even smaller. I can only hope that she’s not as terrible as we fear.

"Conservative lawyers and academics are voicing support for Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan,"

And I'm voicing BS on this one. There is no way in heck a Conservative would support ANY type of ban on free speech, let alone a socialist dyke.

And what thorny issues would that be?

In a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee Friday, Estrada said, “If such a person, who has demonstrated great intellect, high accomplishments and an upright life is not easily confirmable, I fear we will have reached a point where no capable person will readily accept a nomination for judicial service.”

Uhhhh Miguel, pull your head out of the sand. We blew through that threshold about twenty years ago. Does the name Bork ring a bell?

“Conservative friends rise in support of Kagan (BS! BARF ALERT!)”

There. I fixed the title for you...

:)

Cheers

“She’s clearly qualified for the court and should be confirmed. Obviously, she’s a left-of-center academic who never would have been picked by a Republican.

Anybody else see the inherent contradiction there...'left-of-center academics' by their very nature believe in the 'Living Document' philosophy of constitutional law.

If you think the U.S. Constitution is a "living" document, then you don't believe in it--Either you accept the Constitution as it is written and properly amended, or you reject it, and subsequently you reject the country that was founded by it.

she clearly has the smarts to be a justice and has shown an ability to work with all sides on thorny issues. <<<

NOT THE JOB OF THE SC!....it's to “interpret” the Constitution as the Founding Fathers intended...

I don’t see how one can vote to confirm a candidate who will be interpreting law on a fundamental Constitutional right that she does not fully support: freedom of speech.

Confirming a justice who overtly wants to change our Constitution through interpretation is a clear threat to it. That is completely unacceptable and, in and of itself, renders her unqualified for the position.

Oh look, she reaches out to all sides. Wow, just what we need, John McCain on the Supreme Court.

I’m thinking her left arm is ten times longer than her right arm, making it ever so easy to reach out to the left, and quite difficult to reach out to the right.

Come on! You mean to tell me there are conservative lawyers and academe members? And they would confirm a far leftist for the SCOPUS? Come on!

We are one vote away from every privately held gun to be taken away.

We are one vote away from the complete Stalinist eradication of every Christian symbol from public life.

We are one vote away from the insane notion that the Constitution guarantees full and complete health care, a home and a job to everyone who wants one.

We are one vote away from the forced governmental dismantling of the First Amendment, through every medium including the internet and the radio.

We are one vote away from New Haven Fire Fighters becoming the law of the land, when your child’s grades, years of study, and hard work are thrown down the sewer of political correctness if the racial outcome does not meet the pyscho-left’s definition of racial equality.

We are one vote away from the eradication of property rights.

We are one vote away from the takeover of private industry by the government.

We are one vote away from Big Brother - just one, and they keep pushing it.

Our sacred Bill of Rights will be gone. The power of the State will not be stopped.

This gets to the heart of our problem. The left “Borks” the right’s judicial nominees. And the so-called right kisses the a-—s of the left’s nominees.
