Fresh off winning the Republican nomination on Tuesday, county District Attorney Susana Martinez remains in a virtual tie with Democratic Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish in New Mexicos gubernatorial contest.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in New Mexico shows Martinez picking up 44% of the vote, while Denish attracts 42%. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and 10% remain undecided.

This is more good news. I think that Martinez has great potential.
I think that Susana Martinez is a fantastic candidate, and if she runs a good race she should beat Denish by around 5%. She should also help us attract Hispanic votes in NM, which will help Pearce win back the very conservative (but 45%+ Hispanic) South NM CD that he vacated in 2008 to run for governor, as well as pull Jon Barela over the finish line in the slightly-Democrat-leaning Albuquerque-based CD.
I have a beef with Santa Fe Sheriff failing to arrest a celebrity who assaulted my son and then writing a report of pure fiction. I hope if she wins, she cleans up the corruption.
I’m nosy, details please.
NM list PING!
(The NM list is available on my FR homepage for anyone to use. Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
I noticed that the dims are basically using Weh’s ad against her about drunk drivers and murderers and that she had the worst rate of any DA. Anyone have the real facts?

I’m not from New Mexico, so I don’t know.
Find out where she stands on illegal immigration. If she supports ‘comprehensive reform’(code lingo for amnesty I give her a thumbs down. Does she support the Arizona immigration law? Does she support cutting off social services to illegals? Will she go after employers who imploy illegal? Is she willing to repeal the anchor baby law?
>Republicans are looking to end Richardson’s corrupt regime (and I wish I could tell you publicly just one story about how corrupt it is).
Could you freepmail the story to me? I’m quite interested in hearing it.
Steve Pearce gave up his congressional seat to run for Senate (not governor) to replace retiring Pete Domenici. It was a bad move on his part given that Heather Wilson gave up her seat to run for the same position. They beat each other up in the primary which he won, but he was defeated by Tom Udall, son of Stewart and radical liberal enviro-nazi. At the end of election day in NM, Obama beat McCain for president and Republicans went from 3 out of 5 seats in Washington to 0 out of 5. Some very bad decisions were made by state party leadership which may have been chaired by Allen Weh at the time, yes the person Susana beat on Tuesday.
I think Weh had a chance until he stooped to hyped up negative ads that were far from reality. I know a couple of people who voted for him early and then wished they hadn’t.
They seem to make a lot of mistakes. I was so mad at Pearce and Wilson I was seeing red, one of them should have backed out and left the other unopposed in the primary but they were all about moving up and they just got moved out.
Me too? I do know that our Rat representative and Senator absolutely HATE King Bill.
She was in our county on Primary day and a local Republican who is running for County Commisioner was talking to her. She is against it and she’s going to come back and let him take her along the border and show her the big 13 miles of fence and all the rest.
Oops, I meant Senator, of course. There was no gubernatorial election in NM in 2008.
My understanding was that Susana had to plea down some felony DWI’s when a prior DWI cannot be proven, such as when another agency is unable to produce a record of a past conviction or when the evidence does not support the felony DWI.
Check this web page for her rebuttal to Denish’s ads:

Does she support the Arizona immigration law?
Don't know, but she's a strong law and order candidate.
Does she support cutting off social services to illegals? Will she go after employers who employ illegal? Is she willing to repeal the anchor baby law?
Probably to some extent - she favors ending the Richardson/Denish program of giving driver's licenses to illegals and giving illegals free services such as free tuition at state schools. That's probably as much as she can say for now. No candidate that has a chance of winning in a heavily Democratic/Hispanic state can go whole hog on these issues and winning is what's on everyones mind.
Thanks, read and bookmarked.
