McCain campaign says he will debate Hayworth

Sen. John McCain will debate GOP rival J.D. Hayworth this summer, his campaign spokesman said Wednesday.

Brian Rogers, McCain’s campaign communications director, said a newspaper report indicating McCain was “busy with his job as a senator” and would not debate Hayworth was “not accurate.”

“What we said all along is that Sen. McCain will obviously debate — he’s always debated,” Rogers said, adding, but “he has a day job. Folks want him doing his job during the week, so he doesn’t have, unlike Congressman Hayworth, unlimited time on his hands.”

Hayworth, who served 12 years in the House before he was defeated in 2006, and Jim Deakin are the GOP challengers in the race. Rogers said the McCain campaign wants Deakin included in any debate.

“We’ll be taking a look at the schedule and look forward to debating,” he said.

If anyone sees these videos knowing that all this happened on McCain’s watch, and still votes for him, then they need mental help!

That's pretty funny coming from the old fart who just galavanted around the country for over a year, running one of the worst campaigns since Dole.

This is an admission of weakness on McCain’s part.

He’s also confused. He’s lost it.

“politics is just way too corrupt”

Ya think!

I’d wager my life’s savings that if members of congress were paid a salary at or near the average national income, where the point of serving in Congress was to actually serve the national interests for a brief time, where congress members, serving briefly like most military veterans, and without the lifetime pension, and without big interests filling their political coffers, we would have a well adjusted Constitutionally law abiding congress serving we the people.

As it is now, once they get elected, they make a fat check, do favors for special interests for more money, and if they are defeated next time round, they still realize a big fat pension after serving only a few years.

The answer? Limit their income. Limit the time they serve. Do away with their fat pensions. Jail them for a long time if they are caught on the take.

I’d almost watch that debate on pay-per-view.

This is good news because I expected McCain to duck doing debates in the primary.

And note the arrogance about having a day job. If I’m Hayworth, I use that as more proof that McCain is “too busy” serving Washington, not Arizona.

-—”...running one of the worst campaigns since Dole.”-—

You mean the great campaign where he muzzled the biggest boost he got (Palin), and then “suspended” his campaign to go to Washington to pass a stimulus/bailout? You know, so that everyone would “once again see that McCain puts country first.” The campaign with that stupid stunt that everyone who was not on the “Straight Talk Express” saw for the desperate stunt it was, from which he ultimately never recovered? That campaign?

Yeah, that was pretty bad.

ROFL! Exactly that campaign.

Now that you summarize, it may have been worse than Dole.

Yeah.. I know... You are right on all aspects. Don’t think that things will change in the near or far future though. I have given up - but at my age, that is okay - it is a problem if you youngsters give up though... Sometimes I think that I would love to give my life fighting for liberty.... Seems a bit useless these days - hell, most of the youngsters want to forgo Capitalism for their own ideas of government.

I do try to educate my son though...little hope though since the professors have priority...

That's right. I'm sponsoring legislation to create new gub'ment herbal supplements and Maverick Chewable Vitamins for kids . Part of the new national healthcare system leviathan and a balanced breakfast.

Don’t go there ... limiting “free speech” is never a good idea.

Beat the big spenders by being a rock solid defender of the Constitution, of the Framers, of limited government and unleashed individual liberty linked with requisite responsibility.

That will work.
