Gulf coast folks yes, but a 6 month moratorium will kill the entire country. People who have jobs will not be able to afford the gas to get there. Truckers will not be able to make deliveries. The price will spike on all energy.

I suspect you are wrong. The moratorium is not on production. Production from the Gulf will continue, drilling at depths below 500 feet will not. If it is just 6 months, I doubt that overall, worldwide production will suffer much, but admittedly I am no expert.

The rise will not happen that fast.

This order does not shut down existing production, only drilling of new wells.

It will damage our domestic industry for a decade with the impact of lost jobs. But the flow of oil will hardly change at all over the next few months. The production impact is more long term.
