CARACAS (MarketWatch) -- Venezuela, facing criticism over its plan to nationalize 11 idled rigs owned by Helmerich & Payne Inc. /quotes/comstock/13*!hp/quotes/nls/hp (HP 39.07, +0.04, +0.10%) , said Friday the Tulsa-based company was the only one of 33 oil services companies that refused to renegotiate rates starting in early 2009, when oil prices were falling.

"Despite meetings with representatives and directors of H&P for nearly a year, it wasn't possible to reach an agreement due to the inflexible position of the said company," according to a statement from state oil firm Petroleos de Venezuela, or PDVSA.

Of the 32 companies that PDVSA successfully renegotiated terms with, 14 of them were local firms and 18 were foreign, PDVSA said.

The rigs should be sabotaged or destroyed. Chavez should not be allowed to profit from his thuggery.

When they took over the coffee industry, production plunged.

Obama has BP and more covered, Chavez is working on Helmerich & Payne Inc.

It’s a good start, in breaking the United States of any sort of energy independence and bringing her to Cap&Trade— the United States deemed the richest offender...she will pay all countries for this sin.

It will be a slavery of sorts, the citizens of the United States will be made to carry the burdens of the world, out of guilt, but the money will never serve those it is supposed to— it will serve the rich, ruling, connected hacks.

The alternative would have been to tell H&P to take there rigs and go home. I’m sure there were plenty of others who would have been glad to drill at the Chavez price.

I guess it’s cheaper to just take them.

The rigs will be paid for by civil litigation of Chavez’ wealth in the US (CITGO assets).

No one will ever go near Venezuela again without charging twice what the job costs, paid in full, in advance, plus pre-paid bonding of all in-country assets.

Capitalism is a bitch, Pig Boy Chavez!

It's simple thievery by an ugly butt school yard bully, we've had it, y'all remember they can't really fight as good as they think they can.

We need to collectively get right up in their $hit, just like the good ol'days.

Sure, you get punched a bit and it really hurts, some of you will cry, some of you may die, but it sure feels great when the dance is done!

"Let's Dance!!!"

Theft is theft. Stolen property always belongs to hte legitimate owner from whom it was stolen.

Therefore, Nuke Chavez.

Then retake all “nationalized American wells”. All of ‘em.

Everywhere.

The theft is more than the rigs, it's also 43 million dollars of back billing that Venezuela has yet to pay, the reason behind H&P's turning off the rigs a year ago. I'm sure that H&P's been willing to walk away from doing business with Venezuela for a while, they just want them to pay their bills.

The rigs should be sabotaged or destroyed

If they are run by government, that will happen quickly enough!

What makes things worse, IMHO, is that we fund Chavez through purchase of his oil. Our major oil suppliers are, in order of amount:

Canada
Mexico
Venezuela

The final two kinda make you sick, don’t they. Mexico thinks they have a god-given right to foist illegal aliens on us and Chavez rants about destroying our country.
