>> Having done far more stupid things in my youth, its a there but for the grace of God go I ...

Amen to that.

Furthermore, what I consider my “wayward youth” lasted quite a long time... well into my twenties. Thankfully it didn’t overtax the Lord’s infinite grace!

The Darwin awards are for individuals whom natural selection eliminates prior to their passing on genetic material. This one qualifies.

You’re not the only one. Huge rubber bands, only using two well-placed trees as posts. Amazing how far we could sail a 5-6 pound rock, and what we could hit. No arrows, though.

I don't know what the "official" rules are for the Darwin Award, but I would think they would only apply to those old enough to know better - not a couple of 12 year old kids playing around. This is just tragic.

“Involuntary manchildslaughter charges to follow? “

Hope you are exercising your sarcasm muscle. Why does every unfortunate event end in criminal charges.

Oh yeah, cause this is Amurika, and here, somebodies gotta PAY DAMMIT!

Cause this is Amurika, land of Liberty, Free Men.

Guess that’s just a dream now. Liberty equals risk. It’s that simple really. The history books will someday have little paragraphs about the United States Of America and it’s silly quaint little lady liberty.

Sooo, this is just a childish act? a ‘culling of the herd’, unintentional of course,, but ..

Don’t suppose ya ever had a 6 pound rock hit ya upside the head, by chance. It can mess up your day really quick.

Oops, where’s muh /sarcasm tag.

But seriesly, the law may not be as willing to define it as youthful ‘risk’-taking. we’ll see what happens..

a sad event any way ya cut it..

I don’t question CPR, merely mention what I have been told by Emergency Room EMTs. Glad you wife was saved.

Same thing here. One 4th of July, my FRiends decided to put an M-80 under a tin can. We thought we were far enough away to avoid any problems.

As the tin can exploded into hundreds of pieces of shrapnel.

One piece about 1/2 inch wide whizzed about 3 inches from my head.

Our Guardian Angels were working overtime that day.

Worse yet,, The city may have to cut down all the trees growing close together in all the parks to prevent a repeat..

If I was a cat .. by the age of 18, I had already burned thru 3 or 4 lives doing things that could be injurious and more.. usually on wheels or in the water.

We used strips of rubber cut from old inner tubes {young people will need to google this} and could fire rocks the size of baseballs several hundred yards and they were deadly.

Fortunately, we never injured anyone.

6 pouond rock sucks.

But criminal charges? Please. The “law” is not sacred. It is defined by people. People are moronic, emotional excuses for rational thought. Logical thinking is usually defined as rationalizing a pre-set opinion. That’s the law. Big whoopy do!

The “Law” does not make it right. The sheeple, after every story like this bleeting about whether or not charges will be filed just makes me sick to my sheep loving stomach.

It may have been an “assault” slingshot; painted black and easily converted to grenade launching. Better outlaw ‘em! /s

Once, when I was a child, I was cleaning my slingshot when it went off. Thankfully there were no injuries, but I never owned up to the neighbors broken window.
