Three children and a teacher have been stabbed to death in an attack on a kindergarten in eastern China.
A man armed with a knife forced his way into the nursery at about 4pm yesterday by posing as a parent, as mothers and fathers were picking up their children, according to residents who live nearby.
About 20 pupils and staff were injured, two of the children seriously, in the attack in a suburb of Zibo in Shandong province, eastern China.
Police rushed some of the wounded from the Boshan District Experimental Kindergarten to hospital before ambulances had arrived.
'Three kids died and another three were injured, and four teachers were also injured,' an employee at another kindergarten in the same district, who gave his name as Wang, said.
Ms Zhang, who works opposite the crime scene, said: 'The kindergarten has been sealed off until now. There're still police officers there.'
The attack is the latest in a string of assaults on schools that has raised public alarm about the government's grip on order.
The Zibo killings come just two days after a man in west Hebei province went on a rampage at the wheel of his earthmover, smashing vehicles and buildings and leaving 17 dead.
In May, seven children and a teacher were hacked to death with a meat cleaver in an attack on a kindergarten in north-west China.
After killing the five boys, two girls and their teacher, 48-year-old Wu Huanmin went home and committed suicide.
In April, 29 children were injured in an attack on a school in Jiangsu province.

Prayers for the families.
They are young men who can not find a wife and have no hope of ever finding a wife.
They are poor farmers or laborers in areas with an over abundance of men like themselves and a dearth of young women due to decades of enforcement of single child families.
These men suffer from loneliness and despair of ever having a wife or a family. They see these children go to the nursery schools day after day and eventually are filled with rage and self hatred and decide to end it all in a fury to send a message as best they can to those who put them in this position.
The people in power in our country look to China’s one child policy and think wistfully of such forward thinking decisions.
An extension of China’s “one child” policy??
Governments are much worse serial killers than one person. Statistics like that don’t matter in a country like China because we will never know how many people are killed for body parts or whatever. Their serial killers are their military officials and it is legal and encouraged in that country.
At least our serial killers need to hide and there is outrage even from government. (Well, maybe we see it starting to change with the ONE now that our laws are being twisted to mean “whatever they want the laws to mean.”)
Well we do have some bad ones but not the worst according to this site.
America’s got nothing on Columbia’s Pedro Lopez, who murdered over 300 people before being arrested and jailed in 1980. Astonishingly, he has been released and re-arrested on several occasions since, and on one of these occasions when he was at liberty he has been accused of at least on new murder in 2002.
At least in China, which is not retardly liberal in these matters like most of the rest of the world, the perp will almost certainly die shortly after he has been caught....
I’m going to guess that they were muslims who wanted to kill non-muslim children, Beslan-style.
I suppose it is possible but it does not seem likely.
Shandong province is in eastern China on the Yellow Sea and not close to any Muslim populated areas.
