Once again we see Islam being brought into the workplace. Today we learn that Minnesota Vikings safety Husain Abdullah, has decided that fasting and playing at a lower level, is more important than giving it his all for the team.
Even while sprinting in the heat and humidity during drills, sometimes in full pads, Abdullah is adamant about his faith. He will not allow himself so much as a cup of water until the sun sets and before it rises.
Im putting nothing before God, nothing before my religion, Abdullah said. This is something I choose to do, not something I have to do. So Im always going to fast.
They’re made of leather, not pigskin. They never were made out of pigskin. Pigskin is a reference to the 19th century practice of using porcine bladders to hold air. The porcine bladders went the way of the dodo when it was replaced with vulcanized rubber. I don’t even watch football and I know this. I can’t believe that fans are unaware.
“There is no Biblical New Testament law saying you must not work on Sunday. The Sabbath starts on Friday at sunset and ends on Saturday at sunset, if you are following Judaic law. Christians are permitted to work 7 days a week, and eat pork, snakes, and other delectables.”
Sez you. However, your reading of the sacred testimonies is not normative, and some of those testimonies allow for variability within the fold on matters like “observance of special days”, e.g.,
Romans 14:5-6
5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.
It’s no surprise that the sports-cultists disdain those who do not worship at their altar, which is something believers who put their relationship with God ahead of the reward system of the secular/idol worshipping must deal with, even as Eric Lidell discovered as a member of the British Olympic Team at the 1924 Olympics.

But Ramalama-ding-dong hasn't started yet....???
Cut him. There are a lot of players with just as much talent who would give anything to play in the NFL.
No, but I can laugh at their ignorance.
Sounds more like he's gonna slow.
So if there is a fumble he wont touch the ball? After all it is a Pig skin.
No, my point is that Islam and Judaism are nowhere near the same ballpark. Multiculturalism lies to us and says that all cultures are equally valid. Islam and Muslims don’t deserve respect for their beliefs—they deserve ridicule and then, maybe, therapy.
So when he’s in the huddle, does he always have to face towards Mecca?
So park his ass on the bench and give him a prayer rug
while you find some team who wants that kind of team player.
Which is why you never, ever hear it called a “pigskin”. Never, anywhere. Really, just doesn’t happen.
Now what do we call that stick up your ass?
Mocking those who are going to hell.
Interesting.
When Jesus was asked by the Pharisees what the greatest commandment was, he answered “First, to love the Lord God with all your heart, mind and soul. Second, to love your neighbor as yourself. All the law flows from these.”
Where does laughing at the ignorance of those who desperately need the saving power of the blood of Jesus fall into the realm of your understanding of Jesus’ teaching?
Or do his words not matter to you?
Cults demand obedience above all else.
A good Christian is supposed to put his/her religion above all others.
But if his job performance suffers because of this decision, he might just have to get into another line of work.
Just like if a Christian football player refused to work Sundays. Ummm....I guess there’s always managing a Chick fill A!
Well, maybe they ought to bring the pigskin back, if only to mess with that snotty safety.
When I hear him speak out against his religion’s systematic abuse of women and attacks on other religions, then I might give a d@mn.
As a born-again Christian and a “bleed purple” Vikings fan, my hope is that some Christians on the team will set a solid example for him, slowly guiding him to the one true God.
“wants to have multiple workouts in the summers heat without a cup of water, more power to him.”
My thought also.
Don’t most ViQueen games in with a Favre interception?
The mosque at ground zero would also create a “clear and present danger.” Nobody in their right mind would go within half a mile of the place.
