McCain: US warship's Vietnam visit 'historic and hopeful' (BARF ALERT)

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US Senator John McCain said Tuesday that the Vietnam visit paid by the US warship named for his father and grandfather was a "historic and hopeful" sign for ties between the former foes.

"Today's port call of the USS John McCain into Vietnam is a historic and hopeful occasion," the Arizona Republican said in a statement as the destroyer USS John S. McCain stopped in Vietnam's central port city of Danang.

"Vietnam has become one of America's most important and most promising emerging partners in the Asia-Pacific region," McCain said.

"Today's port call is certainly rich with historical significance, especially for my family and me. But the real importance of this ship's visit can and should be measured by what it signals about the future of the US-Vietnam relationship," the lawmaker said.

"That relationship has come a long way, but its potential is even greater. And in time, I am confident that, together, our two countries will add to the security, the prosperity, and one day, I hope, to the freedom of all countries and peoples in the Asia-Pacific," said McCain.

Once again, you neglect the U.S. POWs and MIAs you abandoned in your quest for a legacy of making peace with a bunch of Communists.

I traveled to VN several many times for business and found that in the South, they have taken a vote and communism lost and capitalism won. The old commies are trying to hang on, but the more the people get a taste of freedom the more they are sealing the fate of the old regime. Most of the people in VN..like 65% were born after the end of the war. They have allowed the free expansion of Christian Churches in the south and they are booming. Every visit there were new private shops, resturants and hotels. I just would only allow US ships to visits Ports south of the old DMZ. Never the north. We and the people are winning.
I spent 26 months in the combat zone..dodged bullets and hate commies.

F**K Viet Nam
My son has spent the last five years in Shanghai and traveled extensively throughout Asia.
He says his favorite country is VN ...it has the nicest people, the best food, and has the most beautiful scenery.

From the POS that sold out MIA’s so his friend Kerry could get an exclusive on all commercial real estate in Vietnam. (Colliers International is the company).

McCain is garbage.

Question for you on this, Rabs. I’m not a member of the military and neither are any of my immediate relatives, so I’m asking you this in good faith and without prior knowledge.

First, I believe the allegations against McCain, and knowing who he is as a politician, I believe I can extrapolate his role in Nam after his release. Despite his war record and not to cast any disrespect upon his service to this great Nation; is his cowardice or avarice with regards to his fellow POWs considered a breach of the most sacred vows of brotherhood created through military training and service?

My point here is that if it irks me like it does, I’d imagine you’re cannon-hot when you get going.

“I travelled to VN many times for business...”

A respectful question please; How could you bring yourself to shake hands with them?

Just asking.

Thanks.

I have been to Vietnam too and had a blast. The country is beautiful. I went on vacation in 2005. I don’t recall shaking any of their hands but they were extremely nice. I believe that Vietnam will grow in tourism in the future. They are a capitalist country at least in the South where I visited. Do you feel that we should not visit Germany and Japan??? Sorry but I have visited both of those countries too.

The hysterical response to even the most innocuous McCain statement is symptomatic of why the anti-McCain movement has become just a pathetic joke. Even people who aren’t McCain supporters have to fall in with him rather then join the nutcases.

Spittle-spewing derangement isn’t winning politics.

Vietnam is still a communist country and still populated by the very same regime that inspired so many people to go boating on the South China Sea in 1975. The regime’s allies have included the pathet lao, khmer rouge and other violent communist groups which have given the world the Killing Fields and other genocides accompanied by unmarked mass graves throughout Southeast Asia.

The Nazi party in Germany was outlawed at the end of the Second World War; Japan was required to abandon its militarism and engage in peaceful pursuits. Mussolini was hung by his heels and the fascist party destroyed and outlawed in Italy. In Vietnam, the same regime that excelled in re-education camps, murdering its enemies and isolating itself from the world is still in existence.

No apologies are necessary for visiting any country in Europe. Allied soldiers exterminated Nazi and Fascist thugs. Vietnam, on the other hand, is still in the hands of murderers. Anyone who visits should have a strong stomach to overcome the stench of injustice that permeates the whole region. (One wonders if the actions of all those North Vietnamese soldiers were reminiscent of Ghengis Khan.)

IMHO
