Russia says to load fuel in Iran reactor on Aug. 21

Russia will begin to load fuel into the reactor at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power station on August 21, a spokesman for Russia’s state atomic corporation said on Friday.
The spokesman said that loading the reactor with fuel would be a key step towards starting up the reactor at the Islamic Republic’s first nuclear power plant, though the reactor would not be considered operational from that date. (Reuters)

A Look at Iran

Another triumph for the Obamomba Administration,
Err... Yeah... History people, for gosh sakes! WE, the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, built Iran’s first Nuclear reactor...
Iran confirms Russia will fuel Bushehr plant

Iran’s atomic energy chief Ali Akbar Salehi on Friday confirmed next week’s launch of the Islamic republic’s first nuclear power plant, as announced by Russia which has helped build the facility.
“We are preparing to transfer the fuel inside the plant next week... Then we will need seven to eight days to transfer it to the reactor,” said Salehi. Ending years of delays, a spokesman for the Russian atomic agency said on Friday that the plant in the southern Iranian city of Bushehr will formally launch on August 21. (AFP)

Not exactly. The Germans started work on Bushehr in the 70’s then the Russians restarted work on it in the 90’s.
Maybe you are thinking of the Tehran Research Reactor.
FWIW - The IDF is holding war games up in the Golan/Galilee area. Earlier in the week, some Israeli sources were reporting 100s of armored vehicles were moving toward the border.
If (and this is a big IF) Israel wanted to go after Bushehr in the next couple days, it would not be a bad idea to have the IDF prepositioned on the northern border. Iran would almost certainly put pressure on Hezbollah and Syria to retaliate against any Israeli attack.
What choice does Israel have now?
IF they start that plant then isn’t it game over? They can’t bomb a plant that is operating. Wouldn’t it cause a potential nuclear meltdown?
Is this the end? Game over?
Any comments from those who know more about this subject?
Israel attacked reactors in Iraq and Syria, each time just before the fuel arrived at the site.
This reactor is more of a longterm nuclear threat. It’s not related to the uranium enrichment program that could give Iran a nuke within months.
But even though it is a longterm danger, once the reactor is ‘hot’ then it becomes pretty much untouchable from then on.
This is exactly what Am. Bolton was just saying on Fox. It'll just be a "short time" before it's hot. He confirmed that Israel will not be able to hit it, once it is hot.
Hmmmm.
Tense days ahead in Iran. A big choice for Bibi to make. But my guess is that this will probably be another Iranian redline that Israel will let pass.
I bet those are going to be some nervous russian technicians.

John Bolton: Russia’s Loading of Nuke Fuel Into Iran Nuclear Plant Means Aug. 21 Deadline for Israeli Attack

News that Russia will load nuclear fuel rods into an Iranian reactor has touched off a countdown to a point of no return, a deadline by which Israel would have to launch an attack on Iran’s Bushehr reactor before it becomes effectively “immune” to any assault, says former Bush administration U.N. Ambassador John R. Bolton.
Once the fuel rods are loaded, Bolton told Fox News on Friday afternoon, “it makes it essentially immune from attack by Israel. Because once the rods are in the reactor an attack on the reactor risks spreading radiation in the air, and perhaps into the water of the Persian Gulf.
Perhaps secretly Israel, United States, and Russia have made a deal - Russia knows Israel will attack. Russia moves forward with the deal already knowing Israel has been given the green flag to move forward. Russia stills make their money - pretends to be mad - USA looks the other way. Israel bombs the plant.
Russia then gets to sell everything back to Iran and make twice the money. :)
You need to take off the tin foil hat. Russia does not want Israel to bomb that reactor, it is in their best interest for Iran to go nuclear. One of the major selling points for the Kremlin is that Iraq is now a US ally, along with Israel, Jordan and sometimes Egypt. Russia doesn’t have much to bring to the table in the middle east anymore. This is all about to change.
First off, If this is a Bush failure and same with respects to North Korea. President Bush was already bogged down with a two front war in Iraq and Afghanistan and could not gamble losing his limited support in the ME if he had bombed Iran. Unfortunately for us, it is now too late to bomb Iran’s facilities. I guarantee you 100% that if Israel were to launch an attack and kill Russian scientist and engineers, Vladimir Putin will not just sit by and let it go unanswered.
