It is hard to imagine that anything has gone unsaid about the so-called Ground Zero mosque, but we seem to be missing an important point. The mosque should be built precisely because we don't like the idea very much. We don't need constitutional protections to be agreeable, after all.
This point surpasses even all the obvious reasons for allowing the mosque, principally that there's no law against it. Precluding any such law, we let people worship when and where they please. That it hurts some people's feelings is, well, irrelevant in a nation of laws. And don't we, really, want to keep it that way?
Confession: I would prefer that the mosque not be built so close to the ground where nearly 3,000 innocent souls perished. That's my personal feeling, especially as I imagine the suffering of so many families whose loved ones died in the conflagration.
But why do so many Americans also feel this way? The answer is inherent in the question. Feeling is emotion, which isn't necessarily bad, but it bears watching.
Reason tells us something else: The Muslims who want to build this mosque didn't fly airplanes into skyscrapers. They don't support terrorism. By what understanding do we assign guilt to all for the actions of a relative few?

I have studied Islam for decades and almost became a Muslim. I have read the original texts, jurisprudence, historians, and scholars.
Read. Orientalists like Bernard Lewis. Modernists like Samuel Huntington. Natives like Fareed Zakaria or other, recent books. Check sites like Islaminactions, Pam Gellers, Richard Poe, Steve Emersons, or TelltheChildrenthe Truth. Learn Taqiyya. Find the 5 tenets and their counterparts in Western culture. Refute. Rebutt. Return arguments. And, decide whether you will give all, because, in reality, you may well have to.
Specific questions to fire back with, given here as a starting point for your own 10-point plan:

Yeah, let’s tolerate Muslims all the way to our grave. That’s the ticket.
I hope they build a gay bar next to the mosque. Someone had suggested it.
O’Reilly is hammering this mosque fiasco right now. I can’t believe the commie ‘RATS are trying to push their “freedom of religion” routine. When in the hell have the commie libs ever cared about “freedom of religion”? If some Christian group tried to build a shrine at Ground Zero, the libs would be “outraged” and hysterical right now!
I disagree with the second premise. The imam of this mosque has been on the record blaming the US for 9/11 and refuses to condemn hamas and hizzbolah as terrorists organizations. These folks also supported the flotilla against Israel with their money so they are heaving in bed with Islamic terror and should not be allowed to build their "victory mosque" anywhere near Ground Zero.
We tried tolerating Muslims before 9/11. It is time to intolerate.
Like Noonan, Parker needs to retire.

It is better to be feared than respected. Words to live (longer) by....
The real problem is not Americans tolerating muslims...........it is the fact that muslims tolerate no one but muslims and they don’t even like all of them!
Yeah sure
By what understanding do we assign guilt to all for the actions of a relative few?
Kathleen, it was only a few Nazis, a few communists,
a few KKKers, a few Jap nationalists who were guilty
of the most horrendous crimes, yet all paid the price
and with good reason, they did not turn on the fanatics
in their midst. So it is with Islam, I have yet to see
an Islamic country catch and hang a radical much less
refute or refudiate if you will, the radical agenda.
Keep in mind that Americans as a people are being
punished by the radicals for the actions of a few.
It’s time we took the gloves off, said,
“This is the game you are playing, forcing us to
play it too!. How do you like us NOW!”
Most people do not recognize that what happens in a mosque is sedition. Pure and simple. Islam is not just a religion, it is a cult, it is its own government, its judicial...is in its sharia, and its military (jihadis) all rolled into one with one intent ...and that is to rule wherever they take root. It is a invasive, systemic infection looking to take over the host once it has quantum.
This is not just a religion, but something that cloaks itself in those terms so it should not be given the same treatment contemplated under the first amendment. The Korans rules in Sharia are to consume whatever government there is wherever it goes. To supplant and replace.
The sooner America learns this , the better.
Obama? Obama and Company? Should be tried for treason in this issue for promoting the establishment of a foreign government on our soils. As a Muslim, he knows this, he knows sharia, but is looking to deceive America.
