A group of Somali natives has had its petition denied to open a new mosque in Mayfield, Kentucky because of concerns about parking. The building was already being used by a Muslim group for prayer, but they applied for a conditional use permit to use the building as a mosque. Neighboring businesses argued that the surrounding area wouldn't be able to handle the extra parking needed for the mosque.
The city board of adjustment voted on the petition after reviewing it Tuesday at city hall.

You know this will probably get their panties in a wad and they’ll whine and claim discrimination and take it to court.
What most folks on the Left don’t understand (maybe because they don’t attend church) is that all religious buildings go thru the same process. Overwhelming the street/neighborhood with traffic is a legitimate reason to deny permission to build on a given site.
Bomb storage must be full in the old one.
I’m guessing the justice department will be inserting themselves into this as well.
I’m playing optimist here, so I’m going to infer that the jelly-spined local small-time pols are deciding that maybe it’s safer to pander to an aroused majority than keep doing favors for an obnoxious minority.
Authority panders to the loud, aggressive and lawyered-up. Unless, of course, the majority of voters show they actually give a damn AND are paying attention.
I’d say the folks in Mayfield made their opinions known (and made it clear they would vote accordingly when the time came).

Another story about this vote reported that “250 residents cheered” it. There is only 10,000 people in the whole town, so I would say more than 250 was a pretty good turnout.

Several years ago in Beavercreek OH we had a church denied converting an old racquetball club because of lack of parking, so the muzzies shouldn’t complain.

Naw, George W. Bush knew that the thousands of African Mohammedans he was bringing over were part of the “Religion of Peace” and would be an asset to any community.

The left doesn’t care about details such as zoning processes. When Islam is involved, they become zealous 1st amendment religious freedom defenders.
When Christianity is involved, the left files lawsuits to tear down crosses from mountaintops,and work to ban even tangentially religious organizations such as Boy Scouts from public facilities.
I want to see what happens when a Muslim version of boy scouts wants to use public facilities. Will the left file lawsuits against them?
Our church was not allowed to expand because of drainage issues.
(How about the 'good Muslims' upgrade and so distinguish themselves from the 'desert culture' that is embedded in Islam.) First Muslim Western Reformed for example. . .just a thought and a serious suggestion. Am sure they can find a way to disassociate.
