Joe Miller: The NRSC Is Meddling In The Primary
Ace of Spades ^ | 08/27/10 | Ace of Spades

Posted on 08/27/2010 9:50:21 AM PDT by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle

Well, after I yelled at people and defended them and trusted them, huh?

This is my personal Rubicon. Either we have a democracy or we do not. If we do not have a democracy, I won't be forced to choose between one party's anti-democratic leaders and another's.

Lisa Murkowski, in all likelihood, lost. That is how we score things in America. We take our cases to the people, who are, supposedly, sovereign.

If the NRSC continues attempting to thwart the sovereignty of the people, I'm personally out, and I don't care anymore if Obama's Democrats win. I really don't, and I'm not being ironic. This isn't a parody post: This is real.

It's not that I'm so personally invested in Joe Miller. I am, but not that much. He came on my radar late.

It's that I'm personally invested in democracy. 90% of the reason I am anti-liberal is that they are anti-democratic. I fled the insanity of liberal tyranny for the conservative movement for this reason, first among all others (and all others aren't very close).

If the Republican Party is a royalist party, then I flee them as well, and I confess my error: The more radical elements of the Tea Party are right, third party is the only way possible, even if it means living under socialist rule for a generation.

Lisa Murkowski is attempting to run as a representative of a different party. She is not then a Republican. Helping her is thus contrary to the NRSC's mission. She can either attempt to capture the Republican Party's nomination through recounts and such, and swear in a written document to not pursue another party's nomination, or she can stop using the services and influence of the NRSC.

She cannot do both. Either she seeks the Republican nomination, in which case she will abide by the will of the Republican voters, or she can seek another party's nomination, in which case she is not entitled to any assistance from a party she has departed and declared to be her opponent.

John Cornyn represents a red state, a state whose voters generally want more, not less, conservative politicians in other states.

Would his voters in Texas like to know that his primary goal is not the furtherance of the conservative movement but defeating the Jim DeMint conservative faction? Would his supposed constituents in Texas like to know he's really more concerned with maintaining a block of like-minded Senators in Maine and Alaska than furthering the goals of most of the people he supposedly represents?

dims are anti-democratic AND evil,communist,immoral, unethical,America hating,and God hating.....

I'll take the flawed Pubs anyday of the year...

because if we don't, if we decide some third party is better, its just what the dims want and need....

infact, if we let our disdain for the pub elite push us to third party, we are following the EXACT strategy that dims have always used....push division among conservaties or pubs and you get third party which means Perot ushered in 8 years of Clintoon and Minn. gave us Freakin....THIRD PARTY VOTERS GAVE THE ELECTION TO AL FREAKIN!!!! ....

buck up...freedom isn't always easy ...its worth fighting for....it may mean sucking up once in a while...but we must PERSEVERE!

BUCK UP!

Don’t any of these clowns read the blogs, they’d have to get a whiff of the anger they’ve incited with this move. How will it help the GOP if they themselves split the party?

Then again, if these few truly are on the libs side, do we throw the baby out with the bath water? Maybe we need to take names and focus our wrath on them.

What’s Murkowski doing?

She's pulling an ACORN on Miller.

Win at any price.

"We are not a democracy, we are a republic."

Well, we are a democratic republic. And elections are the "democratic" part of that equation, so the points still hold.

The NRSC should have NOTHING to do with primary elections. It does not exist to support incumbents.

It should come into play (and with its aid and donations) only AFTER the party members in each state have selected their candidates.

I don't discount not conceding until the ballots are in...LM should do that....but at the same time, she should make a statement that she is fully supporting Joe Miller if the results continue in his favor...period....anything less from her and she should not be getting support from any national pub group.....

how about a money bomb for Joe Miller NOW!....if he could raise a quick $100,000 right NOW wouldn't it make LM and the national pubs SHUT THE HECK UP?

We are not a democracy, we are a republic.

Actually you have that backwards. We are a Representative Republic. And those representatives are elected by direct democracy.

If Murkowski lost on the votes, then she needs to step aside and give Mr Miller the respect he deserves as the candidate chosen to REPRESENT those voters in the Republic.

Absolutely correct!

“The NRSC should have NOTHING to do with primary elections”

I agree with that. That is the job of the voters. Once the voters have made their selection then the NRSC should jump in and support the candidate that was chosen by the people. This is what the Tea Party is about.

More from Ace, at same link:

"I hope John Cornyn and his cronies are evaluating whether Lisa Murkowski is worth destroying the party over. Whether this scintilatingly mediocre mind is worth full nuclear war within the party. Whether this desperate-for-validation insecure personality type is worth the loss of the upcoming elections. And if her primary win is important enough to Cornyn to guarantee his own primary defeat.

"I hope they're considering that, because yes, it is that serious. This is not about a man. It's not about Miller or Murkowski. This is about the principle that the people are sovereign-- are they or aren't they?"

I joined the Veterans Coalition, a group associated with the Constitution Party.

I’ll probably take the plunge all the way if the liberal republicans continue to betray conservatism.

Better to be joined with like-minded Americans fighting an enemy I know than being constantly betrayed by enemies within my own camp.

“Course, we don’t know whose side Baker is on here.”

I would give you 99% he prefers Murkowski: (1) She’s establishment; (2) She’s not a conservative.

Seats like AK are the most important seats in the country and guys like Baker understand that. Alaska would elect someone MUCH more conservative than Murkowski. So if the RINO’s get a RINO elected in Alaska, it is a big deal for them. By and large, the RINO’s have won that fight year in and year out—so the party is much more liberal than the folks who vote for the party.

Seats in CA are different. The best we can reasonably expect to do there is a squish. So I’m OK with Fiorina. I would not be OK with Fiorina in Alaska. Of course, that should not be up to me or the NRSC; but to the Republican voters in Alaska.
