Politicians Read Different Things Into Rally
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 08-29-10 | BRENT KENDALL And BOB DAVIS

WASHINGTON—Politicians across the spectrum on Sunday differed over the significance of the Glenn Beck-led rally that drew throngs of conservatives and tea-party supporters to the National Mall.

Republicans said the rally was a reflection of the country's objections to the policies of the Obama administration, while Democrats said the tea-party movement had created a deep split in the Republican Party that could hurt the GOP in the November elections.

Attendees on Saturday packed nearly a mile of the National Mall at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial, in an event that carried the tone of a spiritual revival. Many at the event said in interviews that they were drawn by a sense of deep disenchantment over the country's direction, alarm over government spending and a sense that the country's political system was broken.

The program, which was organized by Mr. Beck, the conservative radio broadcaster, featured three hours of religious and patriotic speeches but offered few details on how to fix the country's problems.

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, said President Barack Obama and Democrats in Congress "have taken the biggest lurch to the left in policy in American history."

"Those hundreds of thousands … on the Mall yesterday were reacting to that," he told CBS's "Face the Nation."

Obama and Democrats in Congress "have taken the biggest lurch to the left in policy in American history."

That's putting it mildly.

No splits in the party that will hurt anything. Only people “hurt” so far are some left Republicans that lost primaries. That’s good not bad and makes the Republican party stronger.

Mark Kirk’s solution to illegal immigration? Send free condoms to Mexico!
An Illinois congressman is pushing a not-so-quick fix in the debate over illegal immigrants from Mexico: free contraceptives. “A slower rate of growth of Mexico’s population would improve the economy of Mexico. It would also reduce the environmental pressure on Mexico’s ecosystem. But a slower rate of growth would also reduce the long-term illegal immigration pressure on America’s borders,” reasoned Rep. Mark Kirk. He
made the argument on Thursday during a heated debate in the House of Representatives. Kirk, who attended college in Mexico, offered the idea of shipping free condoms to poor Mexicans.

I am surprised they don’t know what the code words mean.

We got some good congressional candidates in Michigan but you’d be hard pressed to call our GOP candidate a moderate if he were a democrat.

Every f’n one of them had better wake up! Hard working Americans don’t simply take off for DC for nothing! The event cost everyone money in hotel, food, gas, subway etc. I met folks from all over this country. I live in Richmond, VA and go to everything! Bachmans event for Obamacare, 9/12, everything.

This was a peaceful, meaningful event attended by fed up, tax paying, law abiding Americans. 99% of these people have never attended events like this until now. That is EXTREMELY telling! 8/28 was attended by millions more than what appears in these photos!

Millions, huh?

I'm sure there was a huge crowd. But millions?

Have you a working knowledge of numbers?

Yes, try counting on-line at facebook hits, C-Span coverage, here at FR the live thread and then realize how many couldn’t physically be there but knew about the event and followed it!

The great “difference” this 8/28 rally will make is that it will further entrench the dem’s into their socialist agenda that the voting public has so firmly rejected.

Not to mention enhancing the conservative momentum as we move to the post-Labor Day election push to November.

I say LISTEN to what those that give “comment” about this rally have to say. You will hear a direct reflection of their own souls. It will give you a clearer picture as to who they are and if you wish to vote for them.

Years ago I learned a truth. That a person sees what it is he/she looks for. Look for good, there it is. Look for evil, there it is. Look for lies there they are. Look for truth there it is. Look for corruption, there it is. Truly ‘honesty’ is hard to find. As is truth, loyalty, honor. Sad but true. Sometimes twisted a bit but what it really shows us is about the mind of the person relating the idea he/she gets our of it.

Michael Savage says, “liberalism is a mental disorder”. As Obama defines it, I agree.

You stated “attended”. Millions “attended”.

They did not.

Watched perhaps, or were aware perhaps.

Not “attended”.

Like was said, —none are so blind as those that will not see— Those REALLY in trouble are those that cannot understand what they see. ;-)
