ABC: Men arrested at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport were preparing terrorist attack

Monday, August 30th, 2010 at 9:23 pm | Monica Lawrence | By Monica Lawrence

AMSTERDAM (BNO NEWS) -- Two men were arrested aboard a United Airlines flight after landing at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on Monday, ABC News reported.

The network, citing Dutch public prosecutor Ernst Koelman, said the men were arrested at the request of American authorities after the flight landed in Amsterdam. ABC said the men were subsequently charged with "preparation of a terrorist attack."

The two were allowed to board the flight at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago on Sunday night despite security concerns surrounding one of them, officials told ABC News, which identified the men as Ahmed Mohamed Nasser al Soofi, of Detroit, MI, and Hezam al Murisi.

Did you read about what they had in their checked baggage?

Holland is probably not as PC as our country or as infested with organizations like the ACLU. They are actually able to detain people planning an attack. They don’t have to wait until the attack has occurred like we do here.

Airport security screeners in Birmingham, Alabama first stopped al Soofi and referred him to additional screening because of what officials said was his "bulky clothing." In addition, officials said, al Soofi was found to be carrying $7,000 in cash and a check of his luggage found a cell phone taped to a Pepto-Bismol bottle, three cell phones taped together, several watches taped together, a box cutter and three large knives. Officials said there was no indication of explosives and he and his luggage were cleared for the flight from Birmingham to Chicago O'Hare.

The TSA has had so many "finest hours" but this one may top them all.

Someone I know had scuba harpoons in his carry-on and wasn’t stopped until he got to Rome.

Rome also detained another person I know just because she had been to Morocco. She almost missed her flight.

America is known as the most litigious nation on earth. It stops us from doing what we should do.

Somewhat related: Another person I know quit social work after spending all her time fighting lawsuits every time she hired the person she thought was best for the job. She gave up her extensive training and career rather than hire the wrong people or become a de facto lawyer.

Someone needs to go to prison for allowing this!

How about Norm Mineta? As W’s Secretary of Transportation, he wrote the asinine rules that govern airline security. Airlines that practice racial profiling of passengers are fined millions of dollars by the Feds. So, young Arab males are passed through airline security no questions asked. One would think that this country is run for the benefit of Arabs. IT IS. For rials. When “foreign devils”, (who propped up the Emperor and his court), had more rights than the common Chinese in their own country, it was called “extraterritoriality”. Folks, that’s what we have here. Don’t be naive. It goes across party lines.

Wait till they blow another plane up over an ocean. We’ll probably never know if it was a terrorist act.

Don't think so....no PR value. Now a call to one of the cell phones in the checked luggage after the plane takes off over a populated area.......

I’d agree if we could leave the good Patriots who are clinging to a thread there alone. Get them out safely and I’ll drive an earthmover myself.

The terrorists were recognized along with their weapons
and inserted on the plane by TSA with a wink and a nod.

Then the TSA began their working day, consisting of
“8 HOURS OF HATE” against America, Americans, and Pres. Bush.

The peaceful muslims are going to be so upset that their religion has been disparaged...yet again.

Ha Ha Ha ha !!!

There should be a “Fly at your own risk” sign, and we should be able to board with baseball bats. The problem would be solved instantly.

Airport Security is an inner city jobs program. It has nothing to do with security.

Take a good look at the people next time, and ask your self if you would hire them to do ... anything.

> I would be madder than hell if I or anyone from my family
> was on that flight.

There were brother and sister Americans on that flight.

America is your family, my FRiend.

Obviously, the president and his pie-eyed minions in the Transportation Saftey community don’t feel that way.

These men are non-uniformed combattants planning an act of sabotage. They should be rigorously interrogated for information and then summarily executed. I believe the Geneva Convention allows for this kind of treatment of non-uniformed combattants.

The U.S. hanged 7 Nazi saboteurs in the 1940s, right here in the U.S.

I have made permanent travel arrangements to avoid flying. I purchased a truck and travel trailer. I can travel anywhere in the USA, never get frisked in a security line, keep my shoes on, and park in a camp site for 20 bucks a night. I have all the amenities of a luxury hotel at a moments notice, and no muslims in the cab. I never wait in security lines. I have Internet service everywhere I go because I tether my PC to a smart phone.

I travel without Muslims, every time, guaranteed.
