Airport security screeners in Birmingham, Alabama first stopped al Soofi and referred him to additional screening because of what officials said was his "bulky clothing." In addition, officials said, al Soofi was found to be carrying $7,000 in cash and a check of his luggage found a cell phone taped to a Pepto-Bismol bottle, three cell phones taped together, several watches taped together, a box cutter and three large knives. Officials said there was no indication of explosives and he and his luggage were cleared for the flight from Birmingham to Chicago O'Hare.
Why the Hell do we even have a Homeland Security Dept? What a friggin' joke.
What the?
EVERYONE occasionally tapes their cell phones together...or to a Pepto Bismol bottle....RIGHT???? (SOMEONE should be fired over this....and this guy should NEVER have been allowed on the plane. I am so glad we do not HAVE to fly anywhere....just got back from a Mandatory flight (medical reasons) and if I had heard/read this BEFORE I left....I don't know....I would have had a HARD time flying.
That complete and utter FAILURE by the Birmingham screeners is so beyond moronic that it makes me wonder if they aren’t accomplices. I hope investigators will question those screeners.
And to think the public sector’s average pay outpaces the private sector nowadays.
“Why the Hell do we even have a Homeland Security Dept?”
So they can frisk and embarrass your crippled grandmother!!
Let’s hear it for Thousands Standing Around. I mean, doesn’t *everybody* tape their cellphones to their bottle of Pepto? Doesn’t *everybody* carry a bottle of Pepto with cellphones taped to it in their checked luggage down in the cargo hold?
I can’t WAIT to hear the Zeroites spin this one.

It looks like this was a "dry run". The article even says that the TSA believes there were "mock bombs" in their luggage. One of them also did some suspicious things, like checking his baggage on one flight and then actually getting on another one.
The TSA probably gave them a little rope to see if they would incriminate someone their handler or other co-conspirators. As others have suggested, they were probably surrounded by air marshals.
These guys were on a trans-Atlantic flight and they knew exactly where they were landing. So, the US didn't need to arrest them until they might get away -- and the Dutch obliged by doing so.
In all fairness, I would have been really upset if I was on that flight. But, I think I can see why the TSA didn't collar these guys right away.
Well EEE in our screwed up world currently run by libtards it is racist to think two guys with Arabic sounding names having knives, box cutter, cell phones taped together, a cell phone taped to a Pepto Bismal bottle and watches taped together were planning anything but peaceful actions in an infidel airplane.
These two schmucks shouldn’t have ever been allowed on an airplane and should have waterboarded right there in Birmingham.
” a cell phone taped to a Pepto-Bismol bottle, three cell phones taped together, several watches taped together, a box cutter and three large knives.”
While none of this is illegal or dangerous, i seems like he was testing the bomb detection systems to see where the limits were.
I’d have called for a much closer inspection of other bags in case this one was a timewasting distraction while some less obvious threat was going through.
THEN I read a few posts later that they only found the strange stuff AFTER it was loaded, and the only reason then was that Soofi had taken a different plane. If this was a probing attack the enemy learned lots.
I laugh everytime I see the plexiglass display case in Newark that shows that I can’t bring my Poulan chainsaw on the flight.
Read this paragraph from the article and watch smoke billow from your eyes and ears:

Amazing! My company decided I had to fly to Dallas from a trip I was on in Denver. This was decided on the 13th and on the 16th I was on a plane. I was searched, body patted and had things pulled out because of my ‘late notice’ purchase of the ticket.
And this guy gets on with suspicious things like a cell phone taped to a pepto-bismol bottle? Cell phones taped together? Who carries stuff like that? And why is a Pepto bottle being allowed on? That’s over 3 ounces last I checked!
Political correctness = spineless bastards will get us all killed! Prosecute those who allowed him to pass and send them ALL to Guantanamo!

Can you say: “Dry Run?” They both should have been detained and held for questioning.
Oh, come on. You are being too harsh—TSA was very diligent in strip searching Granny and her 4 year old grandaughter after taking full body x-rays of them. They made that flight safe!
BTTT
Cause you have a muslim in the white hut. Put there by Saudi money which owns most of American TV or controls it through business deals. The Imam has muslims throughout the military, govt, intelligence agencies etc.
Half of TSA screeners at the major cities are practioners of ROP.
One of the Iraqis, identified by Jayna Davis, who had involvement in the OKC Murrah Building bombing was found to be working at Boston Logan Airport, when Mohammed Atta boarded.
The enemy is within the gates.
The TSA has had so many "finest hours" but this one may top them all.
“al Soofi was found to be carrying $7,000 in cash”
OK, well, frankly, this probably means that none of these immediate flights were targets. Who would waste real $7k in a crash?
