No Purchase for Perriello in VA-05, Another Democratic Incumbent Congressman in Trouble: In an election for US House of Representatives in Virginia's 5th Congressional District today, 09/02/10, Republican State Senator Robert Hurt defeats incumbent Democrat Tom Perriello 61% to 35%, according to this latest exclusive WDBJ-TV poll conducted by SurveyUSA. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released 6 weeks ago, little has changed; Hurt is up a nominal 3 points; Perriello is flat. Hurt has increased his lead among men, younger voters, independents, and lower-income voters, and now is at or above 62% among each of those groups.

Perriello, who defeated 6-term Republican Virgil Goode by 727 votes in 2008, today is above 50% only among blacks, Democrats, moderates, liberals, those with unfavorable opinions of the Tea Party movement, and pro-choice voters -- none of which are majority groups among likely voters in Virginia's 5th district.

Democrats were hopeful about retaining this district after a contentious Republican primary.

After several severe beatings (figuratively) over his support for a tax increase a few years ago, Hurt has gotten with the program and will probably make a good rep.

not sure why the media always thinks a contentionous primary on the right hurt the winner’s chances in November. Obama and Clinton had one of the most contentious primaries in history and one that got both sides very worked up. No one on the media left thought this would damage Obama’s chances in the fall.

We have a number of big primary battles this year and the GOP candidate is coming out with early poll leads almost every time. FL Gov race, AK Senate, Angle in NV all had a lead in the first poll post-primary, IIRC.

I just hope the ‘lesson’ took. Otherwise, Hurt will be a one-term wonder just like Periello.

"not sure why the media always thinks a contentionous primary on the right hurt the winner’s chances in November. Obama and Clinton had one of the most contentious primaries in history and one that got both sides very worked up."

And before the field had skimmed off the biggest losers, Candidate Biden said of Obama, "The presidency is no place for on-the-job experience".

Never let it be said that BiteMe has never been right about anything.

The incumbent is down 26% and all he did was vote with his party in direct opposition to the will of the people. There are no personal scandals or abuses of power in the story, it’s all an objection to his misuse of his official powers to infringe on the fundamental rights of Americans while taking marching orders from Pelosi and Obama. I love it!

Conventional wisdom says...

When an incumbent doesn't break past 35% and trails his challenger by 26% only two months before Election Day, chances are he's....

This is the most recent post I found when I did a search on Perrillo. Not sure if either of you are in or near his district, but thought you might be interested in this (if you aren’t already aware of it - -I wasn’t but then I’m across the country).

Here are 2 comments to a Jeffrey Lord article at the American Specatator (good article BTW):

Thank you for this great article Mr. Lord. I truly hope that it does grow legs, and, is spread across the nation. Obama, and his fellow travelers must do all they can to try to keep a lid on all of the destruction that is happening because of Ocare. The call for repealing the law is growing, and winning out over their insistence that we just take it and shut up.

As to Sister Carol, she apparently is a part of the Counterfeit Catholics. There’s that name again, George Soros funded a 527 called Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good. One of the 2 co-founders is Democrat Rep. Tom Perriello, VA-05, who also claims to be a Catholic. His only known source of income, prior to being elected as a Rep in 08, was funds received from Soros funded 527’s, according to his tax returns.

Soros and Perriello knew that they had to break through the anti-abortion voting block. They have spread the message that it is OK to vote for Democrats, even though they approve of abortions, because they make up for that with their work on Amnesty and open borders, and, they re-distribute wealth from the rich to the poor. Unfortunately, the push for social justice, in taking from the rich and giving to the poor, goes all the way up to the Catholic Pope. The pope also believes that the US is responsible to feed the world’s poor, even though the trillions of dollars given to third world countries never turns into food for the poor. Sister Carol is surely a Counterfeit Catholic.

Here are a ton of articles on “Obama’s Counterfeit Catholics-

Perriello may be the lowest of the low among the current crop of scumsuckers who infest the political class. He has his back to the wall here in the 5th District. Next up for Little Tommy is the Voter fraud card. His team is out registering “student” voters as fast as they can spend Soros’s money. People in the 5th District need to vote this rascal OUT!
