Detectives believe dead M16spy may have zipped himself in bag in bizarre sex game that went wrong

Snips from excerpt only website:

His body was found in an extra-large North Face bag, a type which is favoured by explorers because of its 140 litres of storage capacity, durable material, double stitching, twin haul handles and locking zips.

Erotic asphyxiation is defined as the intentional restriction of oxygen to the brain for sexual arousal.

There were also rumours that Mr Williams was the victim of a professional ‘hit’. Other theories included the suggestion that he had been murdered by Russian agents.

Tests on his body were ordered to establish whether he was poisoned, as happened when Polonium 210 radiation was used to murder exiled Russian secret agent Alexander Litvinenko in London in 2006.

I think that's a typo.
MI6’s official name is SIS ~ Secret Intelligence Service
Google and look at their web page, I don't think the name MI6 is officially used anymore.
MI6 is roughly the equivalent of our CIA.
MI5 (and I think the official name is now Security Service) it is roughly the equivalent of our FBI but interestingly enough they don't have arrest authority. They go to a Scotland Yard Special Branch unit for that!)
GCHQ is roughly the equivalent of our NSA.
Some of the details regarding the responsibilities of these UK organizations may have changed over the last 20 years. However this was what I was taught and I don't think they have changed significantly.

Seriesly? Zipped himself into a duffle bag? I’ll believe that when I buy the “swamp gas” “Planet Jupiter” or “ball lightning” cover stories for UFO’s. /h

“.....and then passed out, possibly as a result of panic when he was unable to reopen the padlock.”

I hate when that happens.

Someone may have wanted a skeleton in the closet to stay in the closet, you think?

Yeah, that gap that was reached through to close the padlock could never be use for breathing or say....using the key again!

This smells like a smear murder to me.

Also this guy was a mathematician so likely a GCHQ cryptanalyst assigned to MI6. I guess the UK papers speculated he had CT duties.

The practice claimed the life of Tory MP Stephen Milligan, whose body was found in 1994 with a bag over his head and an orange in his mouth.

Boy, that's gotta be tough for the family to explain at the funeral.

You're welcome!

Concern grows over foreign involvement in spy's death

Snip: Sources have told this newspaper that Britain's intelligence services – MI6, MI5 and GCHQ – are liaising closely to establish whether Gareth Williams was targeted by a foreign power.

The 31-year-old was seconded from GCHQ to work on top-secret systems to defend British banks and transport infrastructure from cyber attack and to eavesdrop on terrorist communications.

As a result he may have come to the attention of foreign intelligence agencies.

Went wrong? What if the end goal of the sex game was death?

Turns out it was nothing mysterious.

He had called to get admitted to hospital and NHS told him to put on his body bag and they’d send the ambulance.

In a strange coincidence, he hosted a TV show in England called “Wild West Tech”.

This is spy vs spy, and anything goes by anyone involved.....Is it what it appears to be or something else?
