Carter sees tea party parallels to his 1976 run (What?)
Breitbart ^ | Sep 20 2010 | GREG BLUESTEIN

ATLANTA (AP) - Former President Jimmy Carter said Monday he sees parallels between today's tea party and his own campaign for the White House in 1976. But he doesn't think the movement will be much of a factor beyond this fall's elections. The Georgia Democrat told The Associated Press he rode a wave of voter discontent to the presidency on the heels of the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal that felled President Richard Nixon, much like tea party conservatives are now earning support by voicing anger at the nation's economic woes.

"I was a candidate that was in some ways like the tea party candidate," Carter said in an interview. "I was a complete outsider. I capitalized legitimately on the dissatisfaction that was permeating our society."

He said the tea party's momentum will likely wear off and they will be co-opted by the Republican Party.

"I think they're going to be quite a major factor in November," he said. "I think there's already a process of absorbing them into the Republican Party. I think they will be much less of a factor in 2012 and in future years."

He rode a wave of media-generated discontent. This time, however, it’s real.

Carter ran as a Washington outsider at a time when America was fed up with Washington corruption (Watergate and tricky Dick), so from that point he is correct.

Unfortunatly, Carter brought the Georgia Democatic Party’s “good ‘ol boy” system to Washington. As a result, Carter had one of the most scandal ridden administrations ever. Had Carter been a Republican, the press certainly would have painted him as being just as corrupt as Nixon.

Of course, that is mostly forgotten about because it was overshadowed by the fact that he was totaly inept as a president.

The Jimmuh Carter offshoot of the Tea Party in his era was the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with the tea spiked by a good dose of misery index.

He’s partly right — the Tea Party movement is a lot like the country’s reaction to his Presidency.

PATENT BULLSH!T. The only reason Carter won the presidency was because Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon. Without that pardon, Ford would have beaten Carter easily. Now that both Nixon and Ford are dead, Carter continues in his vain attempts to polish his much-tarnished image.

Annapolis must be scheming on means by which they can erase this loser’s name from their alumni list. (McKennedy too.)

Oh well, even the high standards of service academies can be avoided. 6-sigma to the left idiots do manage to get in - much like quantum tunneling, I guess.

Reminds me more of the 1980 campaign to crush him ... and that one stuck around for a while.

Peenut Carter needs to go away and shut up! We would have been better off with brother Billy and his beer. Jimmy is a sour bitter deluded loser who might have a high IQ but makes all the wrong choices. America is sick of this sourpuss.

I seriously think that killer rabbit actually bit Carter and gave him some sort of degenerative brain disease.

And, even with Dementia, the demented MSM would take his word over a conservative any time. JC have another peanut and put it to rest for a while. Bitter old man.
