New Poll: Walberg Leads In 7th District Congressional Race
WLNS Channel 6 ^ | September 22, 2010 | Brittany Gray

The latest poll by The Rossman Group and Team Telcom shows former U.S. Representative Tim Walberg slightly ahead of Democratic Congressman Mark Schauer.

These numbers reflect voters in the 7th Congressional district. That's as far south as Hillsdale and Coldwater and up through Charlotte and some portions of Lansing. The independent survey polled 300 people.

A little more than 42 percent side with Walberg while 38 percent support Schauer. 12 percent are still undecided. Another eight percent or so are pulling for other candidates.

Now the interesting part about this race is Schauer is fighting to keep his seat against the man who used to have his job. Back in 2008 Schauer and Walberg battled it out for the 7th Congressional district seat. Schauer came out with the win. Now the two are going head to head again, and both are confident they'll come out on top this November.

This is a good sign. I hear that another ‘Rat Congressman from Michigan, Gary Peters, is also having a surprisingly difficult time.

Given that every other commercial is one by the SEIU shilling for Schauer and the Jackson Citizen Patriot’s “reporter” Chris Gautz is probably on the payroll, I’m amazed Walberg is this far ahead.

He’s a good man. I voted for him in 06 and 08 and in the primary and will do so again.

For the out of staters, the 7th district is the Hillsdale college district and is traditionally GOP. If you can spare a few bucks this is a good race to spend it on.

In 08 he voted against TARP both times and was tossed overboard by the NRCC. He lost that race by about 2%.

Michigan may see more than one district flip.

SEIU and AFSCME both.

I personally think this is the most likely district to go GOP. We’re traditionally GOP and Walberg’s internal polls are showing him up by 10 and I read a Schauer poll that showed Walberg up by 4.

In 14 years as a state legislator he never once voted for a tax increase or new tax. As a US representative he spent his summer on the floor of the house demanding that Nancy Pelosi return to deal with energy policy because Americans were paying over $4 for a gallon of gas.

Schauer is insinuating that he voted against TARP but Tim Walberg was the congressman at that time.

I would bet on three.

I'm a bit worried about the statewide races -- having a moderate atop the ticket may play havoc with the critical downballot matchups. Thankfully the Democrats should be plenty depressed.

I’m concerned about how close Rick Snyder is with Joe Schwarz. Walberg took the seat away from Schwarz in 06 and his vendetta hasn’t let up since. First he ran a write in campaign, then he endorsed Schauer, and this year he asked democrats to cross party lines to vote against “extremism” by voting for Rooney and Snyder.

Schwarz is an uber RINO who is not to be trusted and we should pressure Snyder to publicly put some distance between himself and Snyder.

I think the fence-sitters may have been thoroughly disgusted by the union-dues-financed smear ad against Tim Walberg — the seniors have already grasped that Obamacare’s main goal is the destruction of Medicare and systematic euthanasia, so reminding them that Walberg supports privatization of Social Security (a goal LOTS of people share, not least the young) leads to one of the all-time backfires. Thanks Clintonfatigued.

“Tim Walberg calls social security a ponzi scheme”

LOL I love that line in the AFSCME funded anti walberg ad.

Dumbasses, it fits the definition of a ponzi scheme to a tee. The only difference between SS and Bernie Madoff is the fact that Madoff wasn’t forcing millions of investors into his scam against their will.

The R's in MI-01, MI-07 and MI-09 are looking good. They could all use some cash, though.

The problem is getting outstate FReepers to help us out. They’ve long since decided that we’re all a bunch of liberals and no republican can ever get elected to anything in Michigan.

If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.

I'm sickened that it's even close.

If Madoff had managed to get away with it a little longer and put all his left-wing jackoff marks in the poor house, I’d have started a campaign to get his face on Mt Rushmore. :’)

I believe three seats is a pretty good bet. Part of our State House District overlaps the 1st Cong. Dist (Benishek’s race), so we have the need to coordinate a lit-drop outing with his campaign. His race is going to be very interesting.
