New polling released by Democrat Julie Lassa's campaign shows her race with Republican Sean Duffy for the 7th Congressional District seat is a dead heat.
The poll, conducted for Lassa's campaign by the D.C.-based firm Garin-Hart-Yang Research, shows Duffy leading Lassa 42 percent to 41 percent, within the margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.
The telephone survey was conducted Sept. 26 and 27 among 504 likely voters in the 7th CD.
Seven percent of those polled said they would vote for independent candidate Gary Kauther, and 10 percent were undecided.

'Experts' generally rate the race a tossup, by which most mean "likely to go Republican assuming current conditions hold".
For Lassa to release an internal poll showing her trailing by 1 point... well, it's looking good for Sean Duffy.
This is one of three competitive Congressional races in Wisconsin: the others are WI-3: Dan Kapanke (R) vs incumbent Ron Kind (D), in southeastern Wisconsin, and WI-8: Reid Ribble (R) vs incumbent Steve Kagen (D), who won the open seat race in 2006 when Mark Green retired to run for governor.
Wisconsin ping
A pickup here would be a prize.
There’s an (I) named Krauther who’s taking 7% of the vote-that’s enough to be a spoiler.
Do you know from whom he is taking votes - Lassa or Duffy?
One ping and one ping only, Vasily.
Duffys poll gives him a 47 percent to 34 percent edge on Lassa, with a 4.9 percent margin of error. It was unclear if Kauther was an option during the survey.
Kauther seems like a decent enough sort of fellow, but seems unlikely to win 3%, much less 7%. It's a low key campaign.
Of course, prior to Obey’s win of this seat in the 1969 special election, it was a GOP seat under Mel Laird.
Understand Duffy could really use some financial support. Had a call from his campaign office the other day. They are really working hard up there. Sending a few bucks. Hope some others will, too. My kids are getting lots of little pieces of paper all wrapped up at Christmas saying, “In lieu of Christmas presents this year, I donated $___ to _____ on your behalf so that your kids can enjoy the same great free America that you grew up in.”
Oh, yeah.
Of course.
I would have mentioned it but I figured everyone knew the district's history -- at least the last century.
