Send a message to Washington by sending Tim Walberg to Congress

Tuesday’s congressional race between U.S. Rep Mark Schauer and Republican opponent Tim Walberg is more about policy than the people who are running. It is a critical opportunity for voters in our community to express their concerns about policy decisions of the last two years under President Obama.

We believe Jackson County voters must send a message to Washington, and that is why we strongly endorse Tim Walberg.

Walberg will go to our nation’s capital to fight a left-leaning, spendthrift, socialist agenda and restore fiscal discipline to an out-of-control Democratic Congress. Schauer will continue to support policies that will hurt business and impose huge cost burdens on our children and grandchildren.

Schauer has claimed to be the candidate who fights for our jobs. That rings hollow when considering what he has voted for in the last two years:

• A health-care bill that is so onerous that no one understands its implications. What we do understand is that it will be very costly for all of us and will negatively impact the quality and availability of care.

• A $780 billion stimulus bill that did little, if anything, to create permanent, long-term jobs.

• A cap-and-trade policy that will cripple high-energy manufacturers.

We ask: How will these policies create or preserve jobs? Schauer’s rhetoric about stopping unfair trade policies with China is a smokescreen to take voters’ attention away from the very real consequences of the policies he supports.

The Cit-Pat endorsed Marky Mark in 08 and has buyer's remorse. Jackson is a critical area in this race, and may determine the winner. Go Walberg!

Yep they did a complete 180 degree turn on this one and actually seem to be admitting it.

In 08 they wouldn't endorse Walberg because he wasn't bringing enough pork to the district and now they endorse him because he won't promise to bring pork to the district. Basically they're pointing out that he's an honest man.

I liked what he said yesterday about wanting us to keep tabs on him.

:) I did, too.

Can I say again how much I dislike Joe Schwarz? I can't believe he is supporting Marky Mark. Well...okay...maybe I can believe it...

Walberg has run a poor race in my opinion and let lil mark label him as a enemy of old folks and friend of big oil.

The unions have put a lot of money in lil marks pocket.

And lucky for lil mark we had a oil spill here that lil mark has milked all the way to the pols.

Joe Schwarz is still bitter about Walberg beating him in 06 so his support for lil mark is pay back.

Luckily I rarely have to worry about keeping tabs on Tim. I know what I'm going to get from him.

Can I say that the last time I voted for a democrat for congress was 2004? It was Joe Schwarz's opponent.

I’m not too worried about Walberg at this point. National Research has him up by more than 10 points again and I think the negative ads have hurt Schauer more than anything. They only work with people who intend to vote democrat anyway.

The democrats paint every repiblican is the enemy of the old and in the pocket of big oil but Walberg’s record stand on its own. He’s always tried to do what he set out to do and Schauer has built a record of failing to show for debates and ignoring his constituents.

Here in SE Jackson county the Schauer ads have virtually disappeared from the TV and I only know of 3 Schauer yard signs between here and the city of Jackson. Around here, even my UAW and Steelworker neighbors lean GOP much like I did when I was AFL-CIO.

Yes, you certainly may say that. I think I would have done the same thing, being that there is very little difference between RINO Joe & a dem.

“I’m not too worried about Walberg at this point.”
I wish I had you confidence.
I’m in the Lansing area and Schauer ads are running about 4-1 over Walberg, and I haven’t seen a poll with Walberg ahead in quite some time.
Having said that, I’m not a big fan of polls, so we will see how the more important vote at the pols comes out.
