Flippin’ embarrassing? You betcha!
Boston Herald ^ | 11/15/10 | Jennifer C. Braceras

Sarah Palin has officially “jumped the shark.”

Last night’s premier of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” will be remembered as the moment the once-promising, conservative darling crossed over into the absurd.

Part Alaska tourism promo, part window into the family Palin, TLC’s eight-part series features clips of the former governor at home in gym shorts and shots of the family enjoying the great outdoors while she calls out folksy comments like, “this is flippin’ fun!”

If that’s not enough, Palin takes Kate Gosselin (of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” fame) camping in the Alaska wilderness - the two women reportedly didn’t get along (Kate, it seems, is a bit of an indoor cat).

Conduct unbecoming a former governor and vice presidential

According to a spokesman in the governor's office, it is Braceras' personal ties to the university that drew Romney's attention. Braceras is the only UMass-Amherst alum in the new crop.

"I define myself in opposition to everything around me," says Braceras, a Harvard-trained lawyer and 1989 graduate of UMass-Amherst. "If I lived in Alabama, I'd probably be a Democrat."

You know, this process of letting the MEDIA define the character of politicians is a disaster. The most recent case being the Kenyan Communist.

I really like the fact that you can read Sarah's books, watch her on Fox, read her Facebook and twitter and now, see her with her family in her own environment.

A show like this with the Obamas would be a real snoozer.

America: you people just need to sit down, shut up, and listen...those of us in the northeast know what is best for you. Suck it up.

That is interesting, though it was the Globe that suspended Jacoby and this is printed in the Herald.

SARAH PALIN CALLS STAY-AT-HOME MOMS NEANDERTHALS

Nothing like taking something totally out of context.

I watched that, and she did not mean it in the way it sounds when reading it.

Sometimes you need to see something because the transcript does not do justice.

Too bad you felt that way. I wonder what the real reason is just what do you want from your President? The one we have today? The one we had yesterday? what about 10 years ago, was that a good one? She has single handily changed everything in politics I think that is amazing and worthy of respect. Change? yes we need change.

I looked at that picture several times (by now) and still shook my head.

How come nobody tells the jugear that exit sign is fake?

You don’t hang a curtain rod on an actual EXIT. In case some one really need to get out in an emergency, that fake sign will cause trouble.....

We report, and let the rest decide. Who has more balls?

If you mean courage, strength, moral fiber and principles, Governor Palin , hands down.

My widowed mother raised 5 kids alone, worked as a CPA and ran a ranch. Taught me how to shoot, ride, dress game, and handle livestock. she was the bravest hardest working person, I have ever known.

I regret Governor Palin has descended into the populist crudity of using testicular references as metaphors for courage. It was a mistake she will likely not make again in public .

Rather silly criticism. If that innocent little TV show bothered you that bad then don’t vote for her....if she runs!!

I really wish this had been more of a documentary and less of a reality show... I personally think it hurt Palin's chances of becoming president.

You are way off base.

I think it made her look real, and she will kick ASS in 2012! Mark My Words.

Why can't you look at Sarah as a PERSON instead of a political figure? Last time I looked her job is “MOM”. She is not elected or appointed to any political post. She also is a part time pundit on TV (what she studied in college)

I agree, Alaska's Sarah Palin would be a better title, SO WHAT? More Sarah, more of the time, I say.

Roughing it for someone in Boston is spending the afternoon hiking on groomed trails in the Berkshires and getting done in time for dinner and lattes at the Red Lion in Stockbridge. The writer would soil his/her britches at the notion of camping in the wilderness in Alaska or, for that matter, most of the northwestern US states.

I read that different than her calling stay at home mom’s neanderthals.

“..who pick on the petty little superficial meaningless things like looks, like whether you can or can’t work outside of the home if you have small children.”

I think it is a commentary on people who tell women what they can and can’t do, not on the decision of a woman to stay at home.
