“...they believe that Obamacare, for example, is the door to a brave new world, to a future where everybody’s going to be equal and taken care of”

As usual, Maggie Thatcher was right:

“When all the objectives of government include the achievement of equality - other than equality before the law - that government poses a threat to liberty.”

In America we have equality in the law. Period

THAT is the iron-clad assurance that equality exists throughout our society.

However, Liberals want this ‘hyper-equality’...a sort of Eden on earth... from birth to death, so they promise everything to every one, gratis.

It's the reason that Liberal candidates are always going to be supported by lazy and demanding groups who want every thing handed to them.

This evil ain’t changing tactics. Dems still in your face with TSA and Nasty Peelousi leadership.

I hope nancy gets to keep our USAF 757 to fly her here and there with all her groupies. $20 million a year will make a cheap effective campaign ad come 2012.

“He’s dead wrong. The demographics of this nation point to a leftward shift that will continue unabated unless our border is promptly secured.”

Agree. But what if (in addition to that), Republicans could get wise and start demonstrating to the poor that amnesty and illegal immigration actually hurts the existing poor in this country (jobs, benefits, etc.), as well as union members competing for jobs? When the “pie” is viewed as limited, and not ever-expanding, there’s only so much to go around...

I suspect Horowitz is correct. The Democrats won't truly DISAPPEAR, but they will be marginalized as the New Communist Party. The Republicans (because Establishment Republicans are moving left) will take the place of the Democrats. And the Tea Party will be the New Republican party. .

One must remember the 2nd week of Nov 2008. When the prevailing, overwhelming sentiment was that the Republican Party would disappear...that the party was 'kaput', with NO hope of resuscitation.

I do agree with your prediction of the 'shifting' spectrum for the respective political parties. The 1960's JFK would now be considered right of Sarah Palin.

after a few more rounds of blue-dog purging they will just change their name to the Communist Party and be done with it

I've known David Horowitz to be a bit brash and hyperbolic at times, but never "foolish". He is onto something here, and it is the reality that today's Democrats are no longer "Democrats" in any true sense of the word. They do not believe in representative government as did their predecessors, but in command and control. They do not believe in "one person, one vote", but in promiscuous citizenship. They do not celebrate opportunity and achievement, but dependency and sameness.

True: they have many sources of cash - foundations, unions, socialist billionaires - but no heart or soul that would keep them from eventually becoming a Rump party, abandoned by anyone who still has one of those things.

I do not believe the Democrats will disappear as a political organization, but they will certainly continue their "Progress" toward becoming a Social Democrat party, while former adherents either become independents or perhaps Republicans - provided the GOP finds the courage to stand for something other than not being Democrats. The latter proposition is yet unclear.

"But what if we just said “No” to all of this, and really meant it"

GREAT theory; but how do you stop paying taxes, and stay out of jail?

David Horowitz: Democratic Party Will Disappear From the Political Scene

So will the Republican Party, if they don't heed the lessons of the last election also.

I'm glad you affirmed my post. I respect you as a poster.

To this point: The 1960's JFK would now be considered right of Sarah Palin.

... do you remember, back in the day, when Democrats were Anti-Communist?

Makes a tear well up, in nostalgia, doesn't it?

In a sane world there would be only two major political parties; the Conservative Party and the Libertarian Party. The Democrat Party will survive due to the large number of looters and moochers in this country.

That's worth its weight in gold.

The Republicans should start pounding those issues home instead of embracing amnesty. For whatever reason, the issues related to supply and demand of the workforce and limited resources never are presented, much less advocated by prominent Republicans.

There are too many parasites that rely on government largesse for the Democrat party to disappear.

That actually makes a lot of sense, Laz. You might be right.
