"I could have avoided that by being a strictly law-abiding citizen, but who would have thought? Allegro, you deserved the ticket. You clearly had the intent to knowingly break the law. End of discussion...ignorance is no excuse in your elitist %^&%$$ case.

Gee, this is what they do to fellow Green Commies.
I guess I’d get strapped to an electric chair in the Berserkly Quadrangle if I fired up a fat, fragrant Maduro.

Dismount zones are usually at crosswalks so the bikes don’t blow through the crosswalks and get hit by a car. Car’s are required to stop for pedestrians in the xwalk and the bikers don’t even look.

The fines are cheaper.

Read the article. Allegro cleary states he had no intention of following the law.

Now he has to go to traffic school to keep a moving violation off his driver's license. Never show your DL when stopped while riding a bike.

Maybe these kids will get sick of the left wing fascism. This is sick. It is a tax/extortion to raise money for the elites.

Ya know, I should be angry when I hear about stuff like this, but then I see UC Berkeley and don’t give it a second thought.

Aw, as the hooligan bikers around campus here like to scream at the cars: "Same road, same rules!"

You know what the big deal is -
every one of these Berzerkley “students” thinks HE is or will be one of the “ruling elite”,
and we all know that laws don’t or shouldn’t be enforced on the ruling class.

GOOD, I am so sick of cyclists who think they can switch between being vehicles and pedestrians when they feel like it and then they cry when one of em gets knocked down by an ‘evil’ car.

I thought this was a fine for breaking the law.
Only in California. I hope.

When I see the “share the road” stickers and promotions I always think fine, share the cost; keep up with the speed of the traffic; and obey the rules. I wish more cities would do this.

WTF - you people miss the point. A $220 fine for locking your bike in the worng place? This is govt theft at the end of a gun. Califonia is so broke that they pass these “laws” to extort more money to feed the corrupt givt/university union thugs.

"We should try and get UC Berkeley to handle these issues on campus and not push the burden of responsibility on the student and the outside government agencies for riding your freaking bike!" a junior named Jamie Lubell posted on the page.Heaven forbid the student take any responsibility for breaking the laws. *rolleyes*

A paragon of virtue on a bike crossed the road in front of my car at a pedestrian crossing.
Was tempted to scare him but stopped for him instead.
Hey, officer, he’s not a pedestrian, why should I have stoppped for him despite the crosswalk. Better to avoid that conversation.
