Israel preparing for 'large scale war': cable

Israel's army chief told a US Congress delegation in late 2009 he was preparing for a large war in the Middle East, probably against Hamas or Hezbollah, leaked US diplomatic cables showed on Sunday.

"I am preparing the Israeli army for a large scale war, since it is easier to scale down to a smaller operation than to do the opposite," Lieutenant General Gabi Ashkenazi was quoted as saying in a cable from the US embassy in Tel Aviv.

The document, dated November 15, 2009, was quoted Sunday in Norwegian by Oslo-based daily Aftenposten, which said it had obtained WikiLeaks' entire cache of 251,187 leaked US embassy cables.

"The rocket threat against Israel is more serious than ever. That is why Israel is putting such emphasis on rocket defence," Ashkenazi told the US delegation led by Democrat Ike Skelton, the cable showed.

The Aftenposten has been pretty sympathetic to neo-Nazis. It’s kind of telling that not even Assange was willing to unveil this — at least not yet. I wonder if Israel would nuke Norway before it nukes any Islamic entities, just to get a known traitor and spoiler out of the way.

well duuuhh!!

A small country of 5 million Jews surrounded by 800 million hostile enemies who would do almost anything to slit their throats in a instant - and this article that they are getting prepared for WAR for their survival & self-defence is news??

Everyone is talking about $5.00 a gallon gasoline in 2011. This will easily get you $10.00 a gallon gasoline.

Iran will shut down the strait of Hormuz and probably let loose terrorist attacks on our oil facilities and pipelines here in the states.

I expect the (terrorist) moles are already in place to cause havoc here.

I keep about 100 gallons of extra gasoline on hand these days. (Well, ever since Katrina)

Contingency planning. That was more than a year ago, and obviously they haven’t started any wars in that time.

Since Israel is surrounded by enemies, of course they have to plan for a large war.

I'm trying to think of a practical way to do this and not end up with a bunch of stale gasoline when I finally need it. How do you keep it (and keep the stock rotated)?

That's a pretty nothing revelation. An Army commander prepares for different scenarios? Thanks, Assange. Got any info on why Bugs Bunny says "Eh, what's up doc?" Something, anything that no one already knows?

Hopefully they have a plan to nuke Mecca, if worse comes to worst, and finally rid humanity of the Islamic virus.

Yes, then Achmed will not bow to a smoking, glowing crater and this inbred psychotic religion will go extinct.

I keep ten six gal jugs for the generator and use Stabil.
Also use it in the bikes and mowers and such. Have had good
luck. I also have number tags on the jugs and rotate them.
Do not use gasohol as it will deteriorate more quickly and
with carb motors like the generator will in effect run
leaner.

Great PR, but Gaby Ashkenazi actually did nothing of the kind, instead he did absolutely nothing - besides keep his head firmly planted in the political sand. Meanwhile, Meir Dagan chief of Mossad stood in.

According to the French journal Le Canard Enchaine, Meir Dagan was responsible for the elimination of IranaIn nuke scientists, stuxnet, and the destruction of the Shihab-3 ballistic missile arsenal at the Imam Ali mountain base.

Meir Dagan has retired, and Ashkenazi will shortly also retire.

The IDF is in its worst shape since its founding. The surrounding Islamist armies are in their best shap ever.

In Isreal - as in the US, the suicidal do-gooders, raving mad liberals, and just plain idiots have reached critical mass, I fear.

ALMIGHTY GOD

HAS BEEN PREPARING FOR A LARGER SCALE WAR OVER ISRAEL

FOR MILLENIA.

HE ALWAYS WINS.

He makes humiliating His enemies look very easy.

In the process, He will discipline Israel for putting their trust in ‘horses,’ nukes, diplomacy . . . vs IN HIM . . . for foresaking HIM.

“How do you keep it (and keep the stock rotated)?”

Use smaller containers and follow FIFO (First In, First Out).

Keep it cool and dark.

Staybil.

Diesel keeps better.

Propane keeps a very long time.

My generators (two houses — on in the USA, one in Israel), both have large semi-buried propane tanks. And, yes, everything critical is EMP shielded.

Thanks.

Thanks, all for the tips. Good common sense, most of them - but I can always use more of that.

Steel cans w/ tight caps, Stabil (replenish each year), test and reject any ethanol before filling cans. Trouble-free for me after at least three years (although slightly discolored).

I have duplicative stuff — A/C with filtration unit, water pump for well, generator, etc, sitting UNPLUGGED in a basement that has a grounded aluminium sheeting, roof, floor, etc., under the drywall. The doors are metal and also grounded through metal frame.

My garage is built in a similar fashion, with the metal doors similarly grounded (the tracks), except there is a metal screen in the cement floor, instead of a solid sheet floated under the tile.

I doubt it added $2,500 to the cost of construction.

This is not uncommon in Israel.

My cell goes DEAD the second you drive in. It’s how Mrs. Jewbacca knows I am home.
