Ashley Turton, a former Democratic aide whose death last month shocked friends and colleagues on Capitol Hill, was under the influence of alcohol when she crashed her car into the family garage early on the morning of Jan. 10, an autopsy found.
According to a statement released Friday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia, Turton died from the “inhalation of products of combustion and thermal burns” caused by a fire after her car crashed into the garage of the Turton’s Capitol Hill home. Turton, a mother of three, was also under the influence of alcohol, the medical examiner ruled. Turton was in a state of “acute alcohol intoxication,” the medical examiner stated.

I too thought it would a diabetic coma or anuerysm...but instead, a DUI! Amazing, isn’t it, that she navigated arouind the fence, around the gold Camry (not to mention DC streets) and THEN she crashes!?!

“The medical examiner's office declined to elaborate on its conclusion that Turton was drunk at the time of the predawn fire. The incident remains under investigation, said D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer.
Authorities said they are continuing to look into Turton’s activities immediately before her death and studying the contents and layout of the garage and the mechanics of her 2008 BMW X-5 as they try to establish the sequence of events.”

okay, I’ll believe she could have been an alcoholic, but how the heck did the fire start? Are they going to have a recall on that vehicle because it catches on fire in low speed collisions?
