Pump prices may put Obama in peril
The Washington Times ^ | March 20, 2011 | Ralph Z. Hallow

Consumers’ pain at the gas pump will likely be shared by President Obama at the polls in 2012 and could cost him a second term unless energy prices take a drastic turn for the better in the next 18 months.

“Energy prices should be the Achilles’ heel for Obama,” said Scott Wheeler, executive director of a conservative political action committee.

The average gasoline pump price across the country is $3.621 per gallon, the Energy Information Administration reported. Prices in some parts of the country are already topping $4 a gallon.

And the uncertain global situation isn’t helping.

“Unrest in the Middle East and Japan’s loss of nuclear-powered electricity add pressure to oil prices that were already growing along with the world economy,” Heritage Foundation energy economist David W. Kreutzer told The Washington Times. “While the U.S. only generates 1 percent of its electricity from oil, Japan uses 9 percent and will need more to fuel standby generators and to replace lost nuclear production.”

Analysts see a perfect political storm hitting when it comes to energy supply and demand. China and India, with booming economies, are suddenly world-class consumers of oil and other energy sources. The unrest in the Middle East and the bad news out of Japan have unsettled the supply picture even more, a disruption being reflected in prices at the pump in Wichita and Altoona

To hell with Obama! What about us? What about the economy? We are on the brink of a great depression (like we have not been in one already).

Pump prices may put Obama in peril

Every time I hand over fifty bucks for a fill-up, I consider it a political donation.

Well thank God it’s not his muslim communist destruction of America and only gas prices. I thought for a minute his halt on drilling, his allowing Iran to develop nuclear weapons, his fiscal support of union thuggocracy, his failure to seal the borders, his incompetence in both domestic and international policy, his support of third-world communist dictatorships, his destruction of small business, his ridiculous support for green energy..............need I go on?

I should bloody well hope so. The morons voted for Obama, and now you can only "hope" that you get "change" when you fill up your tank.

Doc, each and every one of your points is right on the money. The problem is that you understand them, and I understand them, and everyone on Free Republic does as well. But, the average Joe Six-Pack in this country is far more knowledgeable about American Idol, NFL Football and college basketball than he is about politics, the Constitution, or the Founding Fathers. But, when his fill-up costs fifty bucks instead of thirty-five, leaving him less discretionary income for beer, cigarettes, and lottery tickets—this he understands!

By the way, your tagline is totally justified.

What about us?

Good question. Yesterday he told Brazil that they were a good model for the world follow. During the State Of the Union he praised China.

Seems like the only time Obama talks about us is when he's overseas and apologizing for our existence.

Oh, for crying out loud - if there’s is ANYONE in the entire United States sufficiently benighted to remain enthusiastic about this utter clown in the White House, gas prices certainly are NOT going to tip the balance.

Just on Voter fraud in several key states will get him in for a second term. Soros has been building influence with the Secretaries of State for as many States as he thinks he needs to control the elections from her on in.

OBAMA is repaying Soros by going to Brazil to buy oil.

It took the ultra-left 50 years to finally get their hands on the throat of this nation and all of its resources. They like all communist will play for keeps.

Do you think that John Boehner has the stomach for a fight?

I don't believe any poll that puts ZERO over 12%.
He has lost his base ans the only ones left are blacks. The vast majority of blacks will follow ZERO over a cliff.

If not that... how about unilaterally starting a war against a sovereign nation without the permission of the Congress, much less a Congressional Declaration of War.

There was a democrat conference call Sat am and obama didn't even tell the fellow members of his own party that he had ordered cruise missle strikes for later in the same day!!

How much longer are me going to put up with this nonsense???

Well, the majority voted for him when he said his policies would cause energy prices to skyrocket. He will probably blame evil oil companies. How many of the brain dead liberals and so called swing voters will even follow the argument?
