In general, do not allow yourself to go to a nursing facility in a democratic state where the culture of death holds sway. In my training as a physician I have seen an elderly diabetic with a mind as sharp as a tack denied dialysis by a Catholic hospital (Washington state) and the oxygen turned off on an elderly man in respiratory distress. While it is likely that he would have died anyway, this was the equivalent of holding a pillow over his head.

We now have a national health care system that will put down millions of citizens annually who are deemed not worth saving.

I so agree with you.

And “Catholic” hospitals are not really Catholic anymore.

It is very appalling. the culture of death is defintely here.It was bad enough when just some families wanted their parents to die so they could get the house...but now it is the pervasive culture. a tragedy of values.

My brother had my elderly sick mother make up a trust giving him 80% of her estate, even tho she had already prepared a will splitting everything equally between us...not to mention making me the executor. I lived 2 hours away and he lived 5 minutes away, so he was able to easily influence her.

The day she went into the hospital for the last time (for treatment of maggots in her toes, among other things), she signed the trust. The people who drew up the trust stated in the document that she was in her right mind when she signed the document. Of course, how in God’s name would they know that, since they only met her that day?

She passed away 3 weeks later, after which I found out what my brother had done. I tried to fight it but there was nothing I could do....I had no money for a decent attorney and my brother did....as he was able to use the money from the estate.

The trust mill that wrote the trust, the attorney hired to implement it, and my brother all stood to benefit from riding rough-shod over my mother’s wishes. My mother and me....not so much. And yet everyone turned a blind eye to it. Absolutely shameful behavior!

I believe the spouse has the common law right to speak on behalf of their husband/wife if they are incapable of expressing their own wishes. Not the state, courts or church.

Despite the current state of the economy and all of the gloom and doom stories, the fact is that there are a lot of elderly members of the WWII generation and older Baby Boomers with a great deal of money and their heirs have a lot to gain by having them die as cheaply as possible.

What happened with your mother is, unfortunately, not all uncommon and will start becoming more common as the Baby Boomers age.

A beautifully written, deeply moving story of one family’s struggle against an evil cabal. We must end the tyranny of the culture of death.

It pains me to see Mrs. Harvey driven to the point of exhaustion. She seems to be the only person looking out for Mr. Harvey’s best interests, and it looks like she’s losing the battle. God bless this couple, and bring them the help they need.

When my mother was admitted to the hospital in New Jersey, after having fallen on the steps. I received a call from the emergency room doctor telling me that my mother had had a brain stem stroke and was comatose. He wanted to remove the breathing tube and start her on an IV drip. I told him no, that she had a living will that stated that she wanted be kept alive for a certain period of time and that I was not going to allow anything to be done, or in this case, undone until I got there from across the country.

When I got to the ICU, I found that my mother was not unconscious, but drugged. She had bruises up and down both arms and was restrained. When I asked the nurses what it was all about, they said that she had been fighting them and trying to pull out the breathing tube. This is a woman that they said was practically brain dead.

It turned out that she didn’t have a stroke, that she had never had a stroke. The hospital said, oh well, she wouldn’t have died if they had put her on an I drip because she was breathing just fine on her own, and didn’t need the breathing tube. No wonder she was trying to pull it out.

Bill Ayers is not a “boomer” and neither are many of his friends. Too old.

I wonder if they will continue to starve and dehydrate those they deem unworthy and too expensive to live or will they eventually resort to gas chambers?

Will they (eventually us) be whisked away in the middle of the night against our will and our families told that we've been taken to a health farm or institution to have our health restored?

Nazi Germany has come alive in America!

I never, ever thought I would fear growing old in this country but unless this POS President and Congress is removed and laws rescinded we all have a lot to fear.

Killing the unwanted old folks must be Planned Parenthood et al’s new business model seeing that they have already killed millions of the youngest folks.
