Sarah Palin goes behind enemy lines (The Daily Politico Palin Hit Piece)
Politico ^ | 05/28/2011 | Molly Ball

Among the New Hampshire electorate as a whole, Palin is viewed favorably by just 28 percent, according to a recent survey by the Democratic automated pollster Public Policy Polling.

In PPP surveys in 31 states over the last six months, just three states had smaller proportions of Palin fans, and all were in the northeast: New Jersey, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. (Though the firm is partisan, its results generally track with polls by other organizations. PPP’s results were used in this analysis in the interest of consistency across different states.)

In Pennsylvania, Palin likely has pockets of support in the rural center of the state and among tea party activists, said Jim Roddey, chairman of Pittsburgh’s Allegheny County Republican Committee.

“Overall, most of us feel she could be an important force in the party, but I would hope she would not run for president,” said Roddey, who hasn’t endorsed a 2012 primary candidate. “I don’t think she has the intellectual capacity or the depth of knowledge to be president.”

Madonna, the Pennsylvania pollster, said there’s evidence that putting Palin on the ticket hurt McCain overall in Pennsylvania by turning off the suburban swing voters — particularly women — that are crucial to winning the state.

I’m so tired of these idiots saying she is an idiot. She didn’t get to where she is just because of her looks or wealth or family ties etc. She is a self made woman. She has something else our current president lacks-common sense.

If Palin was unelectable, Politico would be raving about her.

...complete with false assumptions, factual inaccuracies, and opinions from questionable sources.

Usual agitprop-esque tactics and tripe disseminated from the sycophantic statist media to bend and dupe the beguiled masses.

Gee, she's unpopular in the states that are going to vote Democrat no matter what.

So let's nominate somebody they like so we can lose them AND the states that normally vote Republican.

I heard Rudy Guiliani is leading in NH.

If true, he’s there to stop Romney.

He will throw his delegates to Palin.

I'm stunned that Roddey would say something so demeaning about a fellow Republican. That's unusually snide.

I’m guessing of course, but he’s never liked Romney and he likes Sarah Palin a lot.

I agree.

The ‘intellectual capacity’ argument is just offensive. Who’s the last male governor they made that pronouncement about? Who’s the last male governor to have reached Palin’s 90% approval level from her constituents—or to have accomplished so much in her various offices? Certainly you’d have to go back decades to find a male governor who has displayed her political savvy—or influence at the national political level.

I can just about guarantee you that Palin has more intellectual capacity than the Allegheny County GOP party chairman.

I don't honestly know if this means anything or not, but Roddey, in his reelection bid, was destroyed by Dan Onorato for Allegheny County chief executive in Nov 2003. This is the same Dan Onorato who went on to lose his bid for Governor of PA to Tom Corbett (by a huge 9 points).

I don't think Mr. Roddey is in any position to have his political views given credibility....unless it's that of a useful tool for a Politico story.

At my fitness club this morning, the CBS Morning news was on 1 TV and showed a photo of Sarah. Of course, I began reading the text of the conversation expecting lies.

I was not disppointed.

The “reporter” said the WH would LOVE if Sarah was the nominee and they fear Romney the most.

Of course, their actions say just the opposite.

I ask any GOP friends who say Palin can’t win the General Election: “If Sarah wins the GOP nomination, will you vote for her or for Obama, assuming BO wins the Dem nomination.”

They all say, “Sarah, of course.” Then my next question: who else in the GOP fills every venue they visit? Draws bigger crowds? Better excites the GOP base? Has more FB friends? Can raise, on short notice, huge sums in small, grass-root donations? Better defines, from “death panels” to “quantitative easing”, issues she chooses to engage? Who else can tweet one little message and the press is forced to talk about it for many news cycles? Who else has been better able to withstand the slings and arrows of a hostile, antagonistic, bigoted press corps (pronounced “corpse” by our highly intelligent Ivy-leaguer in the WH)?

Then I ask who else can beat her in the GOP for the nomination? They usually cannot say who with real confidence. Those that do will say, “Christie.”

When I ask,” did you know Christie supports “Cap and Trade” and is a true believer in the pseudo-science of Global Warming?”, they are stymied and do not know what to say. Sarah would destroy Christie in a GOP debate with that one issue.
