A Disaster At Commerce
IBD Editorials ^ | June 2, 2011 | Staff

Post: The nominee for commerce secretary founded an anti-energy group and believes in redistribution of wealth to help poorer nations. At this rate, we'll be one of them.

If personnel is policy, there can be no better choice to help implement President Obama's anti-growth energy policy and redistribution of wealth plans than his choice to be the next secretary of commerce, John Bryson.

One would think that the former CEO of power company Edison International would have a more practical view of energy development and management. But he's earned Rep. Darrell Issa's description of him as a "green evangelist."

Bryson also spent time as an environmental lawyer and co-founder of the National Resources Defense Council, perhaps the most anti-energy, anti-growth progressive group on the planet. He has served as an adviser on energy and climate issues to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon at a time when the U.N. was pushing anti-growth climate change treaties based on fraudulent and doctored data.

Bryson told a U.N. energy conference in 2009 that a global wealth-redistribution program was needed to keep poor people in developing countries from using their own forest resources. He spoke of the need for the "development of law enforcement regimes, development of strong governance practices" in developing nations rather than the need of a free market and democracy to encourage growth.

He is a green evangelist and a crony capitalist. He doesn't know about building companies. He doesn't know about building wealth. The only thing he knows is how to squeeze money from friends in government in order to fund boondoggles.

Perfect choice to run Commerce, if you want to hurt the country.

Absolutely correct about the National Resources Defense Council. They are a bunch of scumbag environmental lawyers who care only about the green they can add to their wallets. If you go onto their website and do bios on their Board, you will find that nearly every one is a radical lawyer. They are scum of the earth.

BTW, I didn't mean to demean the scum of the earth by comparing them to members of the NRDC. My apologies to the Scum of the Earth.

Another interesting fact I stumbled across is the fact that Hank Paulson is an "Advisor and Investor" with Coda Automotive (Who got stimulus funds BTW)

Somebody ought to tell IBD that they might want to do a little background research before making such a clueless assertion. NRDC has made nothing but money for the owners of oil and gas concerns by manufacturing artificial shortages and forcing environmental mitigation technologies that consume vast amounts of energy.

The best option would be to do away with the Commerce Dept. altogether. Government cannot plan an economy. It always fails.

Are they all going to leave when BO looses? that is what worries me the most about this admin, it will be hard to clean house, there are commie cockroaches in every nook and cranny of DC. Remember while Americans were loosing jobs over the last 2.5 years, BO hired 200,000 more DC cockroaches.

Exactly. And we don’t know the half of it.
