There are simply too many good candidates who will split the early votes, and then the survivor(s) will have NO chance to head him off later. Romney WILL win, and our country will be on an inexorable path to tyranny.
I understand your point, but just don’t see it happening. I think a candidate will emerge during the run-up to and during the primaries that will bring together enough of the base to become the nominee.
And I don’t think that candidate will be Romney.
I do think we are going to start seeing Romney’s alleged poll numbers and fundraising start tanking percipitously over the next days/weeks. Regardless, he can chug along all he wants, but he’s on the wrong side of history at this point. He is Overcome-By-(Political)-Events.
All it is going to take to make that perfectly clear is for the above-referenced candidate — whoever that turns out to be — to begin to emerge from the pack.
