This rural community isn't used to making headlines, especially the kind it's had lately.
First, there was the tornado, a vicious twister that killed two people, wrecked a school and destroyed dozens of homes less than two months ago.
And now this, perhaps the worst case of child abuse ever in these parts - one that speaks volumes about what can hide behind closed doors.
On April 28, deputies checking a home for stolen goods discovered a naked, starving little girl inside a filthy, makeshift cage.
Under a shed nearby, they found the remains of a baby.

Until then, the couple is being held without bond in Norfolk, moved there because Gloucester's small jail doesn't have many isolation cells, and prisoners accused of child abuse tend to be targets of jailhouse justice.

This article is heartbreaking and it makes you sick. This little girl was so starved that she was eating flakes of her own skin? Words fail. What is so sad is she will never be right ever. She is now permanently damaged. I hope and pray the Virginia jury does justice for this little girl who had no voice for those six years in a prison.

The smartest thing a defense attorney could do here is to tell his clients to plead guilty. Fewer and fewer trials in Virginia are jury trials. Their reputation precedes them.

I know it sounds strange but I have comfort in that. I know it won’t help this child one little bit but it does remove these people from breeding any more innocent souls to either imprison, or bury. I understand if they can’t determine the cause of death of the baby found buried then it will probably be thrown out. My prayers are for this little girl and I hope that she can at least be loved by a couple. Sad when we have to pray that a child experiences love, isn’t it?!
I read this wonderful book and unfortunately this case is far worse. In a “Child Called It”, he was able to go to school, eat, learn a language etc... This case is far worse. If child is not taught to speak, for example, by a young age... that ability is gone forever. I saw a documentary that illustrated several cases (a dog-girl from Eastern Europe and one here in the U.S. that was kept in a cage). The prognosis is not good.
Some people are too stupid to be allowed to breed, but unfortumately we have no way of knowing which ones, or any way to stop them.
There is zero problem with stupidity here.

There are creatures who walk our planet wearing human-suits. They are not human, but appear to be.
These two subhumans will get theirs. They asked to waive bail because they know their lives are in danger. This act is appalling to the extreme, and with the likely murder of another child, the death penalty is a strong possibility. Juries in Virginia don`t have any problem ridding the world of scum like this.
Local reports here in the Hampton Roads say the little girl is doing much better. She`s at the Norfolk Children`s Hospital of the King`s Daughters.
Besides the date of the article itself, it doesn’t say when this occurred. I bring this up because I remember this story from several months ago.. even the pictures..

Yup. The defense attorney will, I’m sure, try for a change of venue. But it won’t matter. There is no jury in Virginia that will let this scum walk.
I expect a plea bargain. The terms being, you plead guilty and we won’t demand to put it in front of a jury.

I can’t ping these kinds of articles out. Because I can’t see the screen, and I can’t stop crying. Reading about such horrible torture of children breaks my heart too much. It’s individuals, not governmentally mandated or socially accepted. But it is evidence of a general culture of depravity and cruely.
People wonder how the Roman populace could enjoy watching gladiators fight to the death, or lions tear apart innocent people.
If such “entertainment” became legalized, I am sure the stands would fill up.
I can only pray that the all merciful God takes care of all such suffering souls and changes the world so that this unimaginable cruelty stops.
