Three cheers for the commentary on backyard firepits ("One person's backyard burn is others' bane," June 20). This informative piece highlighted the hazards of backyard recreational burning, which stresses the environment and jeopardizes our health.
By allowing outdoor recreational burning,

Above is a quote from this nothing-burger smaller than small piece of crap humanity who went looking for a cause to bring some kind of meaning to her small teeny tiny life. It's called "Take Back the Air".
This nothing-burger should take a self-esteem class rather than be allowed on the loose to suck out all our joy for her silly nonsense causes.
Thought I'd tell you what I really think.
Classic Edina liberal...
The State is financially collapsing around her little piece of utopia, but the biggest concern? Smoke from a backyard fire.
I’m sure this letter got the fog horn from the Mayor of Garage Logic!
Some people have way too much time on their hands....................
“Im sure this letter got the fog horn from the Mayor of Garage Logic!”
“Life is dangerous!”
I’m surprised they didn’t include an statistic pulled from their butt about how many tons of CO2 are emitted with each log burned.
They do for all the anti-gas weed trimmer and anti-lawnmower activist stories.
The sooner these meddling idiots stop spewing CO2; the sooner there will be more oxygen for back yard fires.
End man’s relationship with fire and return to the forest. Mother Earth will be so much better off. We know that there is no fire without man and fire is never good for the environment. /sarc
I’ll have to throw a few more logs on the fire tonight in honor of this dweeb. I always do all I can to increase my carbon footprint.
Some people don't care for outdoor leisure activity so they don't want to understand those that do.
We should have stood up to these people 40 years ago. By now its too late.
“Ill have to throw a few more logs on the fire tonight in honor of this dweeb.”
I plan to do the exact same thing tonight. Have lots of “tornado damage” to burn.
"The Cylinder Index (or C.I.) was established on the basis of Soucheray's enthusiastic fascination with internal combustion engines.
It is a measurement device in which the total number of internal combustion engine cylinders (working or non-working) owned by an individual (single-cylinder chainsaws, lawnmowers, 2-cycle, 4-cycle, multi-cylinder diesels, trucks and farm tractors) are tallied. The Garage Logician who attains a C.I. in excess of his age is revered"
I'm not nearly 84 yet!
I'd like to have one of those just for those very reasons.
Recreational Burning?
Sounds like if you are into that you’d end up in a straitjacket in some cell somewhere...
So what’s next?? Charcoal grilles?? How about the smoker??
If you are burning clean, seasoned wood properly, a firepit should not smoke for very long; maybe 10 minutes or so while a new piece of fuel heats up an boils off the water and other volatiles.
If you are burning old pallets, wet, unseasoned wood that smokes, it very well can be a big smelly, smokey neighborhood problem. But that is no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater by banning all firepits regardless of how well the owner uses it.
Leaf burning is banned in many urban neighborhoods because of the smoke, and its reasonable to do so if there are other means provided to remove them. But there is always someone who doesn’t get the message or simply doesn’t care, and it only takes one jerk to impact an entire neighborhood. Same goes for firepits; one guy who has no clue can cause a lot of problems.
Print out her letter a few dozen times to aid in starting your fire
My stoopid b—— neighbor has one of those big fire pots on her back patio. I hate it. She fills it up with smokey cr@p, then goes back inside. The smoke blows into my bedroom via the sliding glass doors. Sometimes it burns until 10 or 12 the next morning! The last time she pulled that stunt, I poured a 5 gallon bucket of water into it. I like a fire too, but not 20 feet from my windows! Inconsiderate witch! She’ll be gone soon, as the bank is foreclosing.
My CI is 26.
